A must-have gadget if you like carbonated drinks of any kind
So, first things first, if you're trying to cut down on waste and ultimately save money over time, this is a great way to do it. You will get the most value out of this if there are multiple people in your home who drink sodas or if you personally drink a lot of sodas. The way the SodaStream works is you install a CO2 canister, plug the device in, fill up a 0.89 QT container with water, attach the container to the SodaStream and choose the carbonation level. It then carbonates the water for you and you add flavorings of your choice. The carbonation doesn't seem to keep well in the fridge and is a little flat the next day, but still pretty "ok" overall.0.89 QT = about 1 liter = about 2.5 cans of soda. A bottle of SodaStream brand flavoring costs about $5-6 at Kroger (sometimes more expensive on Amazon). The flavoring lasts for up to 9 liters, depending on whether you use more or less syrup (I use less, it's a little overwhelming to use more). So with ONE bottle of SodaStream flavoring for $5-6, you are eliminating the equivalent of almost an entire case of soda cans or about 5 2-liter bottles of soda. You're eliminating a ton of aluminum and plastic waste by switching to the SodaStream. On Amazon, two CO2 canisters cost about $70. Each canister theoretically lasts for 60 L (or about 150 cans of soda). This kit comes with two. You can go to SodaStream's website and pay $15 and recycle your empty CO2 canister - you pay $15, they'll send you a new one, and you have 30 days to send them your empty one. They even pay for the shipping in all of this. All of this is assuming you drink soda a lot. I mean, the entire point of this thing is to eliminate waste from soda that you drink, but a lot of people try to cut out soda entirely by switching to carbonated water. The theory is that the reason some people get so "addicted" to soda is not necessarily the sugar, but the carbonation. I can understand that - I crave the carbonation more than the soda sometimes. Carbonated water takes some getting used to if you've never had it before. My first introduction was La Croix. I really HATE La Croix carbonated water - to me, it tastes like carbonated water that's been in the same room as a fruit, for instance. However, I do really like Le Perrier water. You can definitely mimic that water with the SodaStream.I personally do not like the flavor of the fruit drops that come with the SodaStream. It comes with lime and raspberry. I think the raspberry tastes like cough syrup. The lime tastes okay - the biggest issue is that the instructions say to put "a few drops" in the water but the bottle doesn't come with a dropper so it's hard to get the proportion correct. I haven't managed to perfect it. What has worked for me, however, is to buy lemon or lime juice for $1 in the produce section... it's cheaper and tastes better, in my opinion. Further, you can just buy an actual lemon or lime and throw a wedge or two in your glass... it'll taste fine, trust me.That being said, I REALLY like the "knock-off" diet soda flavorings that SodaStream produces. Dr. Pete, Root Beer, and Orange Soda taste remarkably similar to mainstream brands. I guess if you are really sensitive to flavor, you will obviously be able to tell a difference - but I honestly can't tell. I don't recommend buying this if you want literal Dr. Pepper or Coca-Cola flavor because that's not what you're going to get unless you buy their brand-name syrups. For instance, I can tell that the Diet Cola tastes more like the Sam's Club generic flavor diet cola, which I happen to like more than Coca-Cola anyway. I haven't tried any of the other flavors, but I know Kroger has a whole section of them. I don't plan to try the flavors that are not diet.As for the other features of the machine: it's extremely easy to use. You literally just push a button to carbonate the water. It has three levels of carbonation. I can't really tell the difference between the three. One review below complained that the machine was lightweight - I'm not sure why that even matters and I actually consider it a benefit because I don't like having excessively heavy or bulky kitchen appliances. You have to push the 0.89 QT bottle of water into the SodaStream and push it inwards to secure it to the device before it carbonates, but 1) you don't have to push hard and 2) you can just use your other hand to hold the machine down for the one second that it requires to secure to the bottle in.My one complaint is that the instructions are not very clear for how to install or replace the CO2 cartridge. I had to look up a YouTube video. For anyone reading in the future: you don't "snap it in" as the instructions suggest. Pick up the entire device and push the CO2 cartridge in from underneath the device, then twist it to the right to lock it in place.Overall: if you've been eyeing this for a while, if you drink a lot of soda, or if you like carbonated water, this device is definitely a good choice and worth the money because you'll save money in the long run.

Bubbly goodness don’t come easier than this.
Soda stream Fizzi One touch has been fantastic so far. So before I go into what I love about it let me give you some context. This year I have become a massive lover of sparkling water. All the big name branded makers of canned flavored sparkling water have been my go to. I love pretty much any flavor of any company and I was drinking maybe 6 cans a day.So that being said I started feeling guilty about using so many cans and my sparkling water cost per month was getting out of control. My brother mentioned he had a soda stream so I thought I would give it a try and boy am o glad I did.First, it’s super easy and doesn’t take much counter space. All you do is screw in the included CO2 bottle and then fill your bottle with water (we just use filtered fridge water), clip it in the front over the nozzle, push a button and voila 1 liter of sparkling water in about 20 seconds. The water tastes great and you can control the bubbles. 3 different carbonation settings.Second, you can flavor it however you want. There were included SodastreamFlavors that came with our kit and they were okay. Not great not bad just decent. Do make sure you put the drops in after carbonating or separately in a glass that you add water to. We made that mistake and wow that made a mess.I have also added some fruit juice like fresh squeezed orange and grapefruit. That tasted fantastic as well. Honestly though I mostly enjoy it plain. It just seems to taste really good that way and honestly I feel like people who like to that way will get the most benefit from the machine. That may change as I try some other flavors and I will update if it does but right now the sodastream seems to make plain water taste better. I can’t explain it but I’m drinking almost 3 liters of water a day now. It’s crazy. So overall I’m really happy with sodastream and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to cut back on their canned beverage purchasing. Enjoy the bubbles they make everything better.

Very convenient & easy to use
This is a great package and near perfect for my uses. It's hard to describe how much we have benefitted from stopping lugging so much water from the grocery store - both soda and seltzer.Pros-easy to use- pretty good value (except CO2 refills)- Good selection of soda flavorings (including off brands)Cons- The buttons on the top of the device are inconvenient, the device goes right upto the bottom of my cabinet, so I need to move the carbonator each time I use it.- The CO2 refills are obscenely expensive. I have begun to refill my canisters on my own for about 1/4 of the price Sodastream charges.- at the time of this review the seltzer flavorings are limitedAll-in-all, the pros vastly outweigh the cons and this is a five star purchase. The extra water bottles and CO2 make this a no-brainer, as you will almost certainly eventually purchase these anyways.

Fantastic for a fizzy water addict like me
Bought this to save on my La Croix bill. For that it works great. Much cheaper, for fizzy water that is as good. The flavor it comes with has a hint of artificial taste, but but isn't bad and since its trying to reproduce the La Croix effect, it's very subtle. You can also get full cola flavors. The only one I tried had a definite "store brand cola" taste. That's my only disappointment. The kit comes with two bottles, so I always have one on the go and one chilling in the fridge for easy swapping out. Carbonation the water is easy. You fill to the line, put the bottle in, and press light, medium, or extra fizzy. A minute later you have cold fizzy water. The you gently add your flavors, cap and slosh the bottle gently to mix, and enjoy. Just be careful if you're adding anything sugary for flavor. You don't want to reproduce the diet coke / mentos reaction in your kitchen.
