Not necessary and will not work with a phone cover on your phone.
Don't buy if you have a cover on your phone. You must remove it for it to work and it really is not any better than just plugging your phone in?

Worked good for the first two weeks, now it stops charging my phone halfway through the night. Same thing happened to my husbands. This product sucks. Don’t waste your time or money.
