A pretty good figure, quite impressed.
I picked up this figure along with RoTF Leader Class Optimus Prime on Monday the 8th, but I'm not allowed to open either until my birthday on the 13th this saturday, :P but that's immaterial.I have the american/Hasbro version, and the only real difference i can see, (apart from the Takara version being in a black box, and the Hasbro version is in a clear plastic one, with his name and Decepticon symbol imprinted/molded on it, also has a carboard base, which is slightly wider than the box itself, which allows it to be used for displaying the figure MIB), is that the Takara version's colour strippes and decals are stickers, where as on the Hasbro version, they're painted on directly.I picked this figure up from a local Argos store (they only had two left in stock), and he was about £19.99, which is about £54 cheaper than what Amazon is asking, so if you're not prepared to pay £74 for him, check your local argos, they're bound to have one.In fact, now that I think about it, I'm wondering how much cheaper the other Masterpieces Amazon are selling are elsewhere, too bad Amazon seems to be the only one selling the others in the UK (that I can find.)Overall, I give it a 5 star, yes there are some articulation issues with the hips because of the tail fins bieng in the way, but they can be folded up behind the figure. And I've seen from youtube video reviews/tutorials that transformation can be a little challenging, but not too difficult. It comes with a display base that has Skywarp's name printed on it in chrome, on the Takara version, it's a decal sticker you have to apply), two removable Null-ray cannons that can attatch to his upper arms and wings in robot/jet mode respectively. It also comes with a minature (I think about 1cm tall) figure, which is not an Air Force Pilot, it's the scientist Dr Arkaville, who was briefly allied with the Decepticons in the G1 series. (this also comes with the other two Masterpiece Seekers, MP-07 Thundercracker and MP-03 Starscream. This fugure, and TC, use Starscream's mold, they're just repaints), but unlike the mini-figure that comes with Starscream, the ones that come with SW and TC are not painted in detail (they're just painted black), where as the one that comes with Starscream is with more detail. The figure also comes with a small clip that attatches under the cockpit in jet mode (Which is a *roughly* 1/60 scale F-15 Eagle), this allows the jet to carry the minature version of Megatron's gun form that comes with the three Masterpiece Primes and Masterpiece Ultra Magnus(MP-01 Prime (comes with cardboard trailer), MP-04 with real trailer, MP-01b Prime (black repaint of MP-01), and MP-02 Ultra Magnus (same mold as MP-01/MP-04 Prime, just painted white.)Overall, I'm very impressed with the figure, but not Amazon's asking price, you can find it cheaper in local Argos stores, it's listed on Argos' website, if you can't find it on the shelves, ask a cashier to search their stock lists.

This review is comparing the MP 03 with this MP 06.
I own and love the masterpiece 03 Starscream, if this has been reproduced and repainted exactly, it should be an excellent addition to any collection. Just like masterpiece 02 of Ultra magus was an excellent repaint of masterpiece 01 Optimus Prime. If this figure itself is a copy it should be kept as a collective piece not for being played with as the figure has a lot of small and rather fragile parts especially when trying to transform from figure to jet or back. It can be a little tricky to attach the clear plastic stand for it to seem to hover and also to be able to reverse the face plate to reveal an alternate facial expression. Other than those few minor problems the figure is overall very impressive especially when it jet mode as it comes with a removable passenger, moveable wings and other hidden compartments, as the proper jets have. The colour scheme resembles that of the original character and show with small alterations to how the modern jet colour schemes look.

SKYWARP!
Woo! Check this out! I'm not a big fan of Starscream, so I plumped for the more appealing black and purple of Skywarp (easily my favourite of the three original seekers - mostly just down to the awesome colour scheme!). I absolutely love this figure, although it is a little fiddly to transform. The detail, as with the other Masterpiece figures (and the Binaltech/Alternator/Kiss Players), is superb. You get a bunch of stickers to dress the figure like his G1 counterpart (although I left well alone as I'm rubbish with decals), and a wee Dr Arkeville figure (from the G1 cartoon). I absolutely love this figure (not in a rude way), although it would have been nice to have a bit of Die Cast worked in.Recommended!

The model feels sturdy when held and is as accurate a model of ...
The Takara Tomy Masterpiece Skywarp is a replica of the McDonnell Douglas F-15E air superiority fighter used by the USAF, meant to closely resemble the 1984 version of Skywarp from the Transformers animated series. In aircraft mode, the model is approximately 13 inches long, 8 3/4 inches wide, and 3 1/2 inches tall. The level of detail put into the aircraft model is surprising, with nearly all of the aircraft panels visible. The model also has some of the details the actual aircraft has, to include a radome that swings open to reveal the radar array, opening cockpit with seat and pilot, a movable speed brake, and movable flaps and ailerons. The upper engine panels also open to show the engine detail. On the underside of the model, the landing gear open to allow the plane to rest on them, and there are detachable missile pods that mount on the underside of the wings. The model feels sturdy when held and is as accurate a model of a transformer as you will find anywhere. In robot mode, the model stands around 10 3/4 inches high (while mounted in the enclosed stand), around 6 inches deep (which can vary depending on how the model is posed), and approximately 8 3/4 inches wide (depending on model posing). The model includes arm-mounted cannons and opening missile batteries in the chest. The hands are jointed so that the "pointer finger" rotates and is jointed in two locations, and the rest of the fingers are jointed at one location. The "thumb" is jointed in one location, and all work together to allow the hands to be posed in a variety of fashions. The model can "point", make a fist, hold weapons, and could even be posed in a variety of gestures. The head of the model can even alter faces. Simply grab the "chin," pull down and rotate the face to alter between a smug grin and an angry scowl. The model is, for the most part, made of plastic. There are some metal pieces to add rigidity and strength in key areas, but other parts are designed to "break away" if too much force is applied, and they are easily re-attached later. The color scheme of the model is faithful to the cartoon series; a deep black accented with a grape purple and silver. The enclosed stand will likely be used a lot. The model may be able to stand alone in robot mode, but this reviewer was unable to make that happen. The stand is helpful in holding the model upright without worrying about whether or not it will fall over at random. The stand can also be used in jet mode to both hold the model in a "flying" pose and store the arm cannons used in robot mode. The model comes with instructions, a decal sheet that lets the owner choose from among several livery schemes to apply, 2 missile pods, 2 arm cannons, a pilot (don't lose him, he's tiny), a clear stand, a black base plate, and a hefty price tag.Overall, the model is fantastic in both aircraft and robot mode, with an attention to detail that is just not found on other Transformers. That said, this is definitely a high end collector's item and not a children's toy. That attention to detail comes at the expense of easily breakable/losable parts, and a complexity that has to be seen to be appreciated. Pair that with instructions printed in their entirety in Japanese, and you have a high end model that collectors and enthusiasts will appreciate the best. The only complaint this reviewer has is about the main landing gear in jet mode. With the detail of this model, I don't understand why they could not have been made to be slightly more durable and realistic-looking, but this is a small complaint about an otherwise fantastic model.

skywarp transformation
this toy is definately for a collector and not a kid. During transformation from vehicle mode to robot mode some small pieces are liable to pop and break off if you are not EXTREMELY careful. Skywarp looks good in vehicle mode and if he arrives to you that way in the box, i suggest leaving him as is. Or if you have to have him in robot mode, USE CAUTION. It is NOT ADVISEABLE to transform him often, not to me anyway, so its best i think to leave him in one mode or the other and be content with that. Otherwise, I give the toy four stars.

Skywarp MP06
Takara Masterpiece Transformers are exceptional. While subtle, the Japanese Takara releases tend to pay more attention to detail than their contemporaries (e.g Hasbro). If your a Seekers fan (e.g. Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, etc.) ya gotta pick this one up. IMHO I think he is the best one, all black with purple accent is really cool!
