Great tub, but would be better with a removable seat
I got to try this tub when using the guest suite at a friends house for my vacation. I am now looking to replace my plastic tub with a small tub like this, and get a larger vanity with the space I will get back!Summary: Fantastic material, georgeous, super deep soak and the water stays warm. The edge is thin, but adding a grab bar solves it. While I would love another tub made out of this material and size, I would get one with a removable seat and a slightly angled back.Pros: I was really surprised how much I liked the solid surface / stone resin. Now that I am back home my acrylic tub feels like a big disposable takeout container by comparison. This tub is a great size. Most tubs are too long, but with this one you can just push your toes against the end to help reposition yourself. I know 47" seems short, but honestly, that is four feet for just your legs. Unless you are 7' tall, this is going to be perfect, I promise. It is plenty deep, so it feels super luxurious. It is very Scandinavian/Japanese looking. The seat inside is useful for climbing in and out, seniors, kids, or if you have an injury, as long as you don't slip when standing on it. The top edge of the tub is level, so you can put one of those little japanese wood boards across the top to hold your soap and shampoo. This means you don't need a shelf or niche nearby to use this tub.Neutral: Climbing in and out is more work than a clawfoot tub because it is deeper. It is very helpful to have a very sturdy stool on the outside to step on, and something sturdy to hold onto.Cons: The biggest con is the seat is not removable, so you cannot slide your seat forward comfortably to relax or to tip back your head and rinse and wash your hair either in the water or withthe sprayer. Because of this you have to wash your hair sitting on that little seat while your upper body is completely upright, and it is very difficult to not spray the wall behind you with the hand sprayer, so you really need to tile this tub in on three sides like it is a shower, only because of that seat. When getting in and out of the tub, you have to be very careful to not step on the edge of that seat inside the tub and slip and fall. Also, if you have a child in this tub, you can't turn your back for a second because they will climb on the seat and can easily slip and hit the tub filler or the edge of the tub. A step outside a deep tub is better than a step inside in my opinion, because of slip/fall safety, and the space inside the tub is too small to make such a big limitation. The edge of the tub itself is thin, so it is a little hard to balance with when climbing in and out. I would install a towel bar that doubles as a grab bar on the wall behind this tub.The angle of the back on this tub is very sharp, and it prevents you from being able to sink in and really relax.
