I like it and it seems high quality and good made but I haven’t use it. Highly recommend.

Brought this hoping that it would fit on my Leatherman sheaf. It's way too big but is well made and starts a fire quickly - so I'll throw it in my camping backpack instead.For anybody that hasn't used them before, use some sandpaper and twiddle the rod until the black coating comes off and it looks more silver in colour. It's also worth carrying some cotton wool. Pull a small amount into fluffy cloud and secure on a twig. Strike the rod and the cotton wool should ignite almost instantly. Lastly, if you don't have the scraper, the saw on a multitool / penknife works really well instead.

Though possibly not as productive in terms of "Sheets of Sparks", as the "Light-My-Fire" ferro rods, this unit is still very good - especially if you want to glue (gorilla glue - for its slight flexibility), the storage cylinder to the sewn edge of a bushcraft knife sheath, then duct tape it in place, then wrap the whole thing with paracord. The storage cylinder won't crush with such a binding - though you should not wrap too tightly or knife removal may become unnecessarily difficult. Make a leather or paracord, short lanyard to go through the firesteel 'Handle" portion, which will make holding it more positive - and don't expect any accuracy from the compass..!

when going anyplace am going to need it i take wee bits cloth soaked in perol in a wee tin - bit cloth and couple sparks and away it goes
