Love this radio
This is a great little HT with nice features for a solid price. The included antenna works well, but I paired mine with a Diamond SRH815 and it works excellent. Clear audio, nice range, solid construction. Easy to program with CHIRP or manually if you prefer. A quick Google will show you how to open up the extra features.

Good HT for licensed ham radio operators.
Great hand held vhf/uhf amateur radio. You must have a amateur radio license to operate these.

Works. Cheap. Fun to play with. A lot of freq drift.
Difficult to program, but great price. Several mods available for download. Fun to experiment with. Would not want to count on this as a primary radio but is by far better than no radio.

Tough
Great radio. Use everyday for around 6 months now. Really good for finding RFI sources with the spectrum view and firmware upgrade.

Great little radio that really shines with open source firmware
This radio is much better than an UV-5R and has so many capabilities that aren't exposed by the stock firmware. Highly suggest that you install an open source firmware and you'll be amazed what this little powerhouse can do.

Surprisingly good for the price
This was my first foray into handheld ham radios, and you get A LOT for your money here. There's really not much to complain about at all. Certainly you can get better units, but for the price, I'm insanely impressed. The UI is quite a bit to get used to when you're using it as anything more than a basic walkie-talkie sort of deal, but there are lots of videos online to get you started. Battery life is excellent; I've used them for a 6 hour day with fairly consistent communication, and none of the five units we used had dropped any battery, according to the screen. My one complaint is that I personally bought two units, and one was defective out of the box. During Rx, voice was unintelligible, and it would pop often and go in and out. During Tx, others could hear me, but it emitted a high pitched squeal on my end. I noticed that if I squeezed the bottom right of the unit really hard it would go away and behave normally, possibly a bad solder joint on a board inside? I don't know. Regardless, I exchanged it, and everything has been flawless since.

Used!
I was sent a used radio that had been programmed already and had scratches on screen.Radio seems WAY over complicated for my use and will most likely return. This radio isn’t for a beginner getting back into amateur radio. Spend the extra cash and get a well known brand Moto or Midland. These aren’t worth the headache trying to program. I spent 5 hours looking for so called modded firmware so I could at least use it as a ATC monitor but couldn’t even get that working. Definitely, positively retuning and will not recommend.
