Works well, but you can not do 2 sandwiches. I use whole wheat and it does not close. I still recommend this, because you do not need to lock it to get a great results. Has one great point it shuts off and you will never burn anything. Great for mothers, make the sandwich ahead, place into this gadget, leave a note for you kids just to pluck it in, it shuts off.

I thought this sandwich maker would work like one I had 20 years ago. It doesn't. The grill is too flat and doesn't have nice deep pockets. It creates terrible pancake like sandwiches if you close the grill all the way. If you don't, they are marginally better. Likewise, if you add too much inside, it will come out the sides and make a big mess. Please comment if you know of a sandwich maker with deep pockets to add a variety of ingredients.I've given 2 stars because I didn't have any problems with the machine, just the results.

We had a similar sandwich maker for nearly 20 years. Then we dropped it and replaced it with this one. The "pocket" for the sandwich is very small. If you make a sandwich with 2 normal slices of sliced bread and 2 pieces of cheese it is difficult to close the machine and then the cheese rushes out. Our former sandwich maker could handle 2 pieces of bread, 1 egg, and 2 pieces of cheese no problem. We will be ordering a different sandwich maker. I can't remember if the last one was hamilton beach or oster but do yourself a favor and get a pricier machine, you'll save on dish soap alone!

works well fairly easy to clean

Was okay for a bit but eventually it was way too hard to clean, the press doesn't make the triangles easy to cut and it's ultimately a pain.
