Q: Can these be used with hand stretchers?

The Speeco Farmex Wire Gripper is designed for the loop to be fastened to a safety hook. I have had the best luck using them on a ratchet-drive cable puller with safety hooks on the cable ends.

Q: Will this work with barbless wire?

never tried it on barbless wire but it should work

Q: how big of cable can it work with 1/4 3/8 etc.

I would guess 1/4 would be about as big of a cable as would easily work with this. You might be able to squeeze in a slightly larger diameter cable, but I don't think it would be easy to do.

Q: How much pulling poundage can be put on this? 1/2 ton, 1 ton, 2 ton+ I googled all over and could not find anything showing this.

Have not measured it, but would guess over 1/2 ton. Have pulled barb wire with 1/2 ton ratchet winch to the point of not being able to pull more. The wire will break (not at the clamp) or strip out of the ring if you put too much pull on it. I have used for years stretching many fence wires and do not fear them breaking. This is a professional quality tool. The finest I have found for gripping barb wire.
