My adult son and I purchased two kayaks from Amazon recently. It didn’t take long to realize traveling with two kayaks in the bed of my truck wasn’t the best option. After several days of research I purchased this carrier. However, my camper shell wouldn’t allow for top of truck install. I converted my small trailer and now we travel in style with both kayaks on the trailer and our tents snd camping gear safely stored inside the truck bed. Very sturdy and super easy to use. Highly recommend

2023 Nissan Frontier. Tired of racks for Tacos not considering mounting for Frontiers. I caved for this unit in black (silver comes w/ clamps) does not come w/ mounting clamps but ordered those separate and they work fine. Slope of uprights matches slop of the truck. The base plate of the uprights extends ~ 1/4" past the plastic top cap of the bed. The top tubes are multi piece but with an inner re-enforcing tube (~15") to mate. Mounting plates are 1/8" and solid. All holes and parts are precision made. No slop, burrs, or miss-alignment. Packaging was awesome. each piece was individually foam wrapped and well seated in the shipping box. 1 nit, the end caps for the top bar are a snug fit but require you to drill 4 small holes to secure to the top rail. Assume this was not factory done as some folks may cut the top rail to length (I was considering it). The clamps hold everything rigid. This is intended mostly for a pair of kayaks. For the price, It is well worth it. I rarely give a 5 stare review. Would Love these rack manufacturers to consider the making the utili track mounts use on Tacos to be long enough to use on Frontiers.

I modify this to work on some elevate t-track rails. Worked out pretty well.This rack is pretty strong even though the crossbars are joined at the middle. It’s well made. My big gripe about it is that it does not have any channel slot rubber filler…so the wind noise is pretty bad. I had to buy that elsewhere and cost $25

I used this to make a cat rack for my fishing boat. Cat racks are very expensive so I bought this and made my own. I only needed half of it so now I have a spare if ever needed.

I got one of these racks for the truck bed that was on sale for just $183 on Black Friday.I really wanted one with side rails too but they cost $440 or more and I can't see paying over twice as much to just add rails so I got this one without them and found some rails on sale for $80! The thing is really a pain to put together though! After working on it all day it's only about half finished and still doesn't fit. The instructions are in Chinglish, pretty funny but not much help. They included a bunch of short screws and long screws but the short screws were too short and the long ones were too long so I had to run to the hardware store and get some more! Also the vertical supports are twisted a couple of degrees and mounting holes in the bases aren't big enough and don't have enough play to allow turning them slightly so the top horizontal rails will fit properly. I had to use a Dremel to elongate the holes a bit so the mounting bolts would go in. The bolts they give you and the tiny allen key are pretty worthless because the key isn't strong enough to tighten up the bolts properly so it pays to go get some real 5/16" bolts to use instead!

First offThe rack came packaged so NICEit was like it was grandma's crystal all wrapped up to put in storage...Everything was wrapped individuallyin foam that was taped in place. The small pieces were all in a separate box & the hardware was in individually bags labeled to the pictures in the instructions....Right awayI got the feeling like this company CARESabout what condition their customers receive their products...As I unwrapped the pieces for the rack I was AMAZED at the build quality.....They could have charged me DOUBLE & I Still would have said"Thank You"Do yourself a FAVORBuy this Rack....&With all the CASHYou save you can buy aThule sticker& still have enough money left over to take your girl out to lunch.....So far the rack mounted to my2018 Ram 4x4With two 15' kayaks strapped to it .....Has seen 1000 miles from California to Oregon through some pretty good storms of rain & wind....AndThe rack has performed way above my expectations .....Like I said beforeYou could have charged meDouble & I would still be completelySatisfied....

Feb09, 2024:The mounting plates are not square with the extension tubes. Once you get those tight, loosen the cross bars and extenders, you can't adjust them because the misalignment causes it to bind. I see other reviews had the same problem with the mount plates. The directions are OK but not clear. I'm gonna give this product the benefit of the doubt and see if the exchange will yield better results. If that doesn't look any better I'm giving up and returning this.Update feb17, 2024:Additional pictures are the second set. Still the same problem, bad quality control. I'm sure these would be fine for anyone who doesn't intend to utilize the adjustability, but that was the reason I tried this particular product. I'm not gonna waste my time trying to make this work with subpar manufacturing. Second set is getting returned and I will have to come up with a better solution elsewhere.I will say though, customer service did contact me directly and recognized my concerns and I do appreciate that. They made effort to be accommodating and for that I'll bump the review from one star to two.

I just finished assembling this unit and it is excellent, very well thought out. I haven't mounted it on my truck yet but I anticipate no issues.
