Q: Can you open a door so the birds can go inside?

The door does not open it is a feeder not a bird house. It is well made and holds a bunch of food

Q: can it go on a pole ?

We put ours on a pole, but my husband had to add the holes to screw it on.

If you're asking about a post to attach it to, it doesn't attach that I could tell. It has a wire to hang it with. I hung mine from a shepherd's hook type pole. Really cute bird feeder. The birds seem to like it.

This is my second feeder of this type...very sturdy and attractive for years. We use sunflower seeds exclusively, which leave a lot of waste behind. The feeder does have drainage, but the sunflower waste will plug the holes after snow or rain. That is the only drawback. It is easy to scrape away the wet seed. I have had different types of feeders over 45 years, and these are the best for our needs!
