Now I love making soups
I love this soup maker. So much easier and quicker than using saucepans and a liquidiser, not so much to clean up afterwards either. This is a brilliant little machine, just a bit bigger than a standard kettle and looks quite neat sitting on my kitchen worktop. I didn't know what to do with the electric cord at first as it is not fixed to the machine, but now I just fold it up and thread it through the handle at the top, so it's always there ready to use with the machine.I've only used the smooth & clean settings so far, not used the chunky or the blend yet. It's not too noisy when it starts to blend the soup, but it is a bit noisier when it does a clean, but I can live with that. All the soups I have made with it have turned out great, enough for 4 standard sized soup bowls in each mix, which I freeze. Got so many different flavours in my freezer now as I just love using the machine. It was always a chore before to make soup. The only gripe I have with mine is that it doesn't bleep at the end of the soup making cycle, or maybe I'm just turning it off too soon, as it says to empty it out straight after its finished so as not to burn the bottom, I could just be a bit too anxious about it burning. It does bleep at the end of the clean cycle though. The instruction manual is pretty good and has a few good recipes in it. As I said above I absolutely love this little machine.

Very easy to use
Simple but great at its job. Makes fantastic smooth soup simply and quickly. Shame there isnt a bigger difference on smallest and largest quantities to make, but i just freeze what isnt used. Around 4 large bowls per make. Have tried several different soups no, potatoes can stick a little but after washing and stuck residue comes away easily with a short soak of spray kitchen cleaner with bleach!

Pretty good
The soup maker is pretty good, blends well and cooks the soup thoroughly. The only thing which is annoying is that the lid can occassionally lift up when it is blending, meaning the programme stops and you have to restart it. This is less likely when you fill the maker more toward the min line than the max. However I do use this often and I would recommend for the price.

So pleased I got this!!
Having put off making the decision to buy another gadget that would probably go unused and end up in the cupboard I finally gave in and bought this soup maker. I can definitely say it will NOT be going unused or be left in the cupboard!!! So simple to use if you can't be bothered to cut up veg etc buy some already done add stock cube and water leave in the soup maker for 25 mins while you can be doing other stuff and there you have ready handy home made soup Best Buy this year

Poor quality
Its important to say that my good lady and I really loved the soup from this soup maker. It is really delicious. As a soup maker it does the job brilliantly. Bit on the noisey side but aren't all soup makers. But....and its a big but, We used it a grand total of 8, yes 8 times during January and its crapped out. It blends just fine but has stopped heating the ingredients and cooking them. All you get is cold mushy mess at the end of its cycle. We got in touch with Salter to ask how to exercise our right to an exchange or repair due to being an electrical good with 12 month warranty. They told us we have to deal with Amazon, who remove the option to easily return a product after 30 days from purchase. Urg. I would heavily advise you stay away from the Salter one and buy a Morphy Richards one instead. Its made to a higher quality for the same price and the heating elements dont die after 8 uses.

Great way to make your own soup
Excellent product. Comes with clear instructions, cleaning tools and a recipe book. Just chop ingredients, add seasoning and stock and in around half an hour, your soup is ready. It makes around 800ml which is plenty for four people. Or you can decant , refrigerate and serve the next day. I have tried four of the recipes and they are all tasty.

My second machine.
This is my second soup maker, the first one I had to return as it stopped working ( wouldn’t heat the soup, but still blended the ingredients) on its third use.The soup maker has roughly the same “footprint” as a kettle, but it is taller to accommodate the motor/ electronics. It has a lift off lid which has all the programs in it and houses the blending stick- this is wipe clean only. The base of the soup maker is where the heat comes from to cook the soup.Prepping your soup means chopping the vegetables etc to roughly 2cm cube size, you don’t need to pre cook the veg ( however if making butternut squash soup /pumpkin soup roasting the cubes first gives a much nicer flavour) as the soup maker heats and blends. You need to use a little oil to cover the food cubes to try to stop it sticking and burning. Obviously it also needs stock/water too.The inside of the soup maker has clear marking for minimum and maximum levels of food and liquid to help you get it right. In use the soup maker gets very hot, as in don’t touch the sides or you’ll burn yourself hot. It also gives out quite a lot of steam. It is noisy when blending too.You can choose between smooth or chunky soup, or even just use it as a blender- the controls are clearly marked on the lid. At maximum level I got four good sized bowls of soup for my family, all ready at the same time so ideal to use to make a soup starter for dinner or a hearty soup and sandwich for lunch.Making soup takes around 30 mins or so and I have liked the results I have achieved with this. What I haven’t liked is cleaning the soup maker after use. I have found that both soup makers burned food onto the base at the front of the machine, oiling the food and the soup maker makes absolutely no difference. After use at the front of the base a burned on black semicircle of food was stuck firmly. It did not budge with the automatic cleaning cycle, it did not budge with my washing up brush, even soaking the inside of the base with warm soapy water did very little- to remove this burned on residue took an abrasive cleaning cream ( cif/ pink stuff miracle cream cleaner) and elbow grease.
