Another reliable IP camera in my house
This camera has several features that make it stand out from the rest, such as a 49ft night vision, a built-in microphone, a human and vehicle detection system, an active deterrent function, and a 129° field of view. It can also record at 4K resolution with 15 frames per second. The camera has a sturdy metal body and a flexible screw that allows you to adjust its position easily. The package includes everything you need to install the camera, such as the camera itself, a washer/nut, a small wrench, screws with plastic anchors, a paper template, and some manuals. The installation process is simple if you already have a CAT5 cable and a power source. You can power the camera through PoE or a 12V adapter. However, one drawback is that the camera does not have any indicator light to show that it is on. You can only verify that the camera is working by checking your router for new devices. This can be confusing for the user and should be improved. The setup of the vehicle and person detection system is straightforward and effective. The sensor performs well during the day and even better at night. The color feature is very impressive, especially when the flashlight is on. I have configured the flashlight to turn on when motion is detected. The deterrent light is quite bright and can be turned off through the web interface. The microphone is useful but the sound quality is average. The AI motion detection system is the highlight of this camera. It is accurate and only sends alerts when it detects humans or vehicles. The camera has a user-friendly interface that lets you adjust the settings and features of the camera with ease. There are many options to customize the settings according to your preferences and needs. You can access the interface by connecting the camera to your network and using a web browser to navigate to the camera's IP address. From there, you can adjust settings such as resolution, frame rate, and bitrate to optimize the camera's performance. You can also set up active deterrents, configure a secure HTTPS/SSL connection, and perform a factory reset if needed. The camera also supports Smart Motion Detection (SMD) events, which can be set up through the interface. One thing I really like is that you can choose from several storage options, such as FTP, SD card, etc. This means you do not need a cloud-based subscription that many other brands offer. The Amcrest View Pro app is great on iPhone, but it does not have all the settings that are available on the web interface. The only thing I did not like about the web interface is that it does not allow you to paste usernames or passwords, which is inconvenient if you want to set up an advanced password and paste it upon login.Amcrest provides detailed documentation and quick start guides to help you get started with your camera. You can find these resources on the Amcrest support website.Overall, this camera seems to be a great investment for those who want to protect their house with a smart PoE camera system that records 24/7.

POE with 4k Smart AI
Amcrest got me as a returning customer over and over again. This camera doesn't disappoint. I already have this spec camera in bullet style but this time I decided to go with turrent style to replace in other area of the house. I have been slowly replacing my old 1080p camera with 4K POE and I haven't gotten a single defective camera from Amcrest so far. One time I receive a indoor Pan/Tilt WiFi camera that wasn't working correctly but customer service helped me solve the configuration issue I had and it's been great.I actually prefer turrent style camera lately even though they are a tad bit harder to adjust the angle compare to bullet style. This camera configuration are pretty standard and same as any other POE camera from Amcrest. You can change basic setting from the app but if you want to configure advance feature, you have to log into the camera directly. You can access it either through Amcrest DVR or remote in with camera IP address within the same network. I do wish Amcrest provides these on the paper user manual that included in the box. You can go to their website and download most of the digital user manual though. Some advance settings are not very user friendly. I had to consult google a few times to understand what I need to do to get what I wanted. I would like more helpful tips/instruction/explanation in these settings. That would make it easier for anybody who want a bit more than basic setting but not overly tech savvy. The quality of the image is very good. The camera got great POV degree and night color vision is fantastic. I don't like to use IR since I can't see clearly with black/white images and the reflection it causes. If you have decent light around the camera, definitely turn off the IR and use night color vision instead. On board light produce decent light but to me, it is more useful to use as a deterrent than to get color vision. Sound quality is decent but not to the point of being useful. I rather have it than no sounds option at all for sure. Installation is straight forward as well as to adjust the camera angle. Definitely play with AI of the camera to detect human/vehicle etc. POE cameras usually have a lot of false positive motion detection and onboard AI helps cut down these notifications significantly. AI is one of the main reasons I am switching out all my old POE cameras to this new ones. I will be buying more in the future.

Great Web UI, Awesome AI Features, Excellent Value
I run Blue Iris (BI) NVR software and this Amcrest camera works very will with it. The really cool thing with this product is the AI features, and that’s a huge differentiator in my book.Using the “traditional” camera with motion detection helps off-load the work BI needs to do, but you can still get many of false alarms (shadows, blowing branches, etc). The AI features can differentiate between Humans and Vehicles to reduce and eliminate those false alarms. On top of that, the camera’s configuration allows you to create Trip Wires - think laser beams in a museum. When someone passes through the Trip Wire, the camera will alert BI. You can choose: In either direction, or passing in one (or the other) direction, and you can create multiple Trip Wires; ex: one coming and one going. Additionally, you can create up to 4 areas of interest, and when something wanders in the area, BI is triggered. This could be used for a doorway for example.I had two problems with ONVIF Events. 1) In the web UI, go to Network->Connections->ONVIF and disable Authentication. 2) ONVIF Events Trip Wires Events were not triggering BI and displayed “GetEvent” error (00002efd). I tried deleting the Trip Wire, rebooting both the camera and BI but didn’t fix it. Then I tried BI Find/Inspect (Settings->Video->Configuration) and then the ONVIF Events worked!!The image quality, day and night, is very good. The camera’s ability to see in total darkness (using the IR light) is exceptional. The addition of the white light which can be configured to turn on when motion is detected is a nighttime game changer. The white light is also a deterrent to would-be burglars. I do see a slight motion blur when a vehicle moves through the image at night time and I’m hoping to find just the right video configuration to minimize this.

Worth it! Just buy it! you won't regret!
I purchased the IP8M-2779EB-AI camera to add to my arsenal at home. This POE camera connects to my generic POE switch and powers up perfectly the 1st time.. I was able to access the settings of the camera via webpage at the IP it pulls. I changed the password then was passed to settings. I am able to save to FTP, SD CARD, Cloud, Etc... I don't have a DVR Yet, so I just saved to the microSD card.. the color and quality of the video is awesome.. I have it set in my closet pointing at my safes, to get a idea who's is in the closet.. also will give me a idea if my kids will touch them or not... Night vision is great, quality at night is just as good as day, but in Black and White... I have not enabled the AI yet, just because I am waiting to get a NVR to handle things.. (Also need to get ethernet ran across the house to targets)... The camera are metal and very sturdy..Setup and Use are EASY! I am very happy with the camera and look forward to my next purchase! A+++ Worth it!!

Crisp picture. A first step in AI for Amcrest. No intruder protection, so mount it high.
Instructions: The bulk of the instructions were discussing how to set up the camera. The process is very similar to other Amcrest PoE cameras, with either IP or P2P options. There was one page at the back discussing how to set up the AI features. It seems almost like an afterthought. If Amcrest is targeting a higher usage rate for the AI features, I would recommend including a dedicated section within the user manual specifically explaining how to use the IVS and other AI features, complete with step-by-step instructions on how to set up a "smart plan" with photos. The instructions should also mention that the AI features are experimental and are not 100% accurate all the time.Functionality: The 8MP 4K camera is generally the very best resolution in home security. I was very happy with it compared to the 5MP camera that I previously had. The "night color" feature is a little misleading: yes, there is a white LED on the front of the camera that can light up, and the camera will be able to see colors due to the light, but any camera can see color during the day or in a well-lit area. If it is truly nighttime and there is no light, or very little light, this camera must rely on IR and the image shows up as black and white, again which is standard. This camera, same as any other camera, cannot see color in "total darkness" as advertised.Although I did not test the audio, I would like to see Amcrest be able to integrate the audio with other more popular camera providers like the Ring doorbell. It would increase adoption and help consumers potentially unify a disparate suite of cameras from several different manufacturers on a single property. Also to note: this camera does not have enhanced protection against physical threats, like some of the other Amcrest cameras. This camera should ideally be mounted high up on a solid wall where it cannot easily be reached by intruders.Of course customers should be aware of the usual with PoE cameras: there is no automatic pan/zoom/tilt despite the circular shape and the camera must be hardwired into an Ethernet cable in order to provide power and data. For outdoor mounting this may require weatherproofing (a weatherproofing sleeve is included) to accommodate cable drops.Overall experience: The AI features were a novelty but not significant. In my testing, the AI face detection offered limited choices ("confused", "happy") and was wrong just as often as it was right. Nevertheless I think Amcrest is moving in the right direction by establishing the IVS platform and starting to incorporate AI into its products. This is extremely important for the future. The white LED feature with motion detection serves as a deterrent, which is wonderful, but standard on outdoor cameras. Overall this is a very good 4K outdoor camera with excellent resolution and many of the standard features including IR, motion detection, and lighting, including some novel exploratory "AI" features. I would like to see this camera have true, useful AI that can detect threats highly accurately. I would also like to see this camera have enhanced protection against physical threats.
