FANTASTIC MUG — LESS PRONE TO TIPPING — Well Insulated With Foam, Not Just Air — One Annoying Design Feature
I've been using these mugs for over three years and am very pleased. IMPORTANT: THESE MUGS DO NOT FIT IN CUPHOLDERS. But that means THESE MUGS ARE LESS LIKELY TO TIP OVER, unlike mugs designed to fit into cupholders. So, these are less likely to spill the liquid contents all over the place making a big mess. These mugs are well insulated with a solid foam material which provides excellent insulation for hot or cold beverages. Similar mugs have nothing more than an air gap which does not insulate as well, and which often fills with liquid over time, forcing you to discard the mug. These mugs are dishwasher safe. These also clean easily if washed by hand, unlike mugs designed to fit into cupholders which are sometimes hard to clean at the bottom. However, these mugs do possess one annoying design feature. The opening in the cover is 90° from the tab, instead of the usual 180°. That means that if you're right-handed the cover tab on the cover lands right above the handle, which makes it difficult for people with limited hand strength to remove the cover. I put the hole in the cover right by the handle (for righties using a straw) so the cover tab is 90° from the handle.I just bought four more of these mugs, and plan to give some away as gifts to older family members who need to keep water next to them all the time. Thanks for reading my review.

Great for coffee
I've used these mugs since 1985 and can't imagine summer without them. If you fill them with ice cubes then ice water, these foam filled mugs will still have ice in them the next morning. I bought three mugs in 1985 and have used them a LOT. Recently, my wife let friends steal two. Anyone who has tried the air filled mugs immediately comes over here and tries to steal one of my foam filled mugs, because the air filled ones don't work, but I always grabbed them back. Finally, they figured out to come when I'm not here, drat! Mine are "branded mugs" they used to sell on a ship I worked on. My last mug still works great, lid is waterproof and it holds ice all day. I flipped it over and looked at the manufacturer, and then fired up Amazon. Lucky me, they are still made. These new ones perform as well as the old ones. They will hold coffee hot for 3 or 4 hours, or ice overnight. These are a LOT uglier colors than my old ones, and the lids are much tighter, but that's probably because they aren't 30 years old. They also added a small lip at the drinking hole, which does make it work better, though the 1985 model works just as well.

Coffee stays hot but hard to travel with mug
I would have preferred if they were just a little taller and a little less wide. Some cup holders may be a problem. But it fits well enough in mine and I love them. I don't know why I waited so long to replace something I use so regularly but i lost my kids to my old ones. The lids snap on much easier on these but are very secure. Very comfortable cup to hold by the cup or handle and I left coffee in there for over 45 minutes and it was still hot.Update: these make terrible travel mugs. It barely, and I mean just barely fits in my cup holders if I push hard and I didn't eveb think to look buy there's no way to close the straw hole. It's fallen out of the cup holder and spilled multiple times.

Not bad for the price
I like these little mugs - they are perfect to sip a 12 oz. beverage with the cup half full of ice, or fill it up with icewater. They're not as good quality as the old Aladdin mugs of similar design from the '80's and '90s: there are rough surfaces inside the cup and on the lid that suggest the mold they are made from (or the process) isn't very good, and the handle creaks in a way that suggests it might break off in the not-too-distant future if I'm not careful with it, but at the price they are hard to beat, especially for fans of the old Aladdin mugs. For cold beverages they do their job well enough - they'll probably keep ice and a drink cold for an hour or two, the cup doesn't sweat or leave condensation rings, and the wide base means you're less likely to knock it over than most bottles and travel mugs out there, so that's perfect for sipping an icewater or a cold Coke over ice for an hour or two while watching a movie or whatever, which is all I expect from a 20 oz. mug. At the 20 oz. size I can't imagine why it would need to keep things cold any longer than that. I don't use it for hot beverages, and suspect it wouldn't keep your coffee hot for several hours, I'd suggest something else for that. They won't fit in most car drink holders, but there are thousands of other travel mugs out there for that. There's no straw hole in the lid (although you could use the drink hole), and the lip of the lid feels a little wide and perilous to drink from, so I mostly use it without.I'd gladly pay a little more, and give five stars, if the rough edges were smoothed, the handle was sturdier, and the drinking lip in the lid was a shaped differently (if you're listening, Gama/ThermoServe/anyone making these), but thanks for keeping these in production regardless.

Finally, I found a large mug I like!
After reviewing so many other (negative) mug reviews, I selected these. I was not at all disappointed. They are huge (a full 12 oz. coke can plus lots of ice and it is still half an inch from the top). They seem fairly well insulated too. They are sturdy and my XXL sized hands fit inside the handles. The top fastens on very, very snugly with a loud "click" so there is no chance of it coming off. In fact if you want to re-position the top, you can't twist them; you have to pop it off and then rotate it to the new position, and then snap it back on. Good engineering! Of course, you need to realize that these are really big so they won't fit in your car's cupholder. But I love the wide base, so they don't turn over when at home.About my only suggestion for improvement would be to stop trying to save plastic or lighten the cups by making the handles somewhat hollowed-out. The hollowed-out outside of the handles is a little sharp on the hands because if this. I would prefer the handles to be smooth on all sides.Still, they deserve at least 4 stars, and I'll give them 5 stars to separate them from the crowd of lesser mugs. Yes, I recommend them!

Worth it!
My mom was using these at her physio facility and found they kept her ice water nice and cold. Before she was discharged home, I found these here. Different color, but that’s the only difference. So worth it!
