I paid the extortionate price so that you don't have to!
Well, not sure where to begin. I adore the smell and taste of violet, as in the old-fashioned little sweets we used to get as kids, so when I read one review that mentioned this wonderful smell when they opened the lid of this jam I felt compelled to spend a king's ransom and get some. It was delivered quite fast, although not fast enough as I had been salivating at the mere thought of the violets for two days. So imagine my disappointment when I prised the lid open to be met with no aroma at all. Even when I practically stuck my nose into the jar there was no aroma. This I came to realise was primarily because the jam is not made from violets, at least not in the English sense. Even the picture on the jar is not a violet, but a pansy. Perhaps that's what they call them in Spain, I don't know. The jam also has a funny appearance. It looks sort of anaemic compared to what you expect from regular jam, sort of watery. It's more like a gel consistency and reminded me of my childhood - not for the violet sweets but for my days at the village pond collecting frog spawn. This image is heightened by the many dark bits floating about in the very pale base - whole pistils, a stalk or two and bits of petal. This is not meant as a criticism of the jam I hasten to add, just an observation. The jam itself, after I blanked out the image of the frog spawn and tasted a bit, is very delicate. It doesn't have much taste at all really, but somehow it is a very pleasant delicacy. Putting it on toast for breakfast, which was my intention, requires a lot of it to be noticed. A LOT. Like half an inch thick plastered minimum. Then it is really rather nice. In my opinion however, it is definitely NOT nice enough to cost almost 18 pounds for a jar that won't even last a week. I think it's the kind of thing you would enjoy if money is no object, perhaps to impress guests at the Palace tea party, but for those of us facing an overdraft each month it is something you buy in a moment of madness while seduced by the dark side and then realise you could have bought ten jars of your favourite jam for less.

I bought the violet petal jam as I was intrigued by the promise of a new tase experience. It arrived safely in some very sensible packaging to withstand the horrors of our wonderful postal service and was beautifully presented. Instead of the ultra violet glow in a jar I was expecting it looks for all the world like ordinary plum jam in an up market presentation package. The difference is immediately apparent upon opening. The scent is a seductive invitation to explore further and the taste is exquisite. Unlike anything I've tried before. As well as spreading it on toast and crumpets I've used it to flavour some butterfly cakes which went down a storm and will now turn my attentions to the ubiquitous victoria sponge. Watch this space! Instant sunshine in a jar!

Wonderful gift for someone who likes Rose flavoured foods.
I got this item as a present for my faithful mother to show my appreciation and she is very fond of roses and what better way then to provide her with jam made from rose petals. This item is very sweet but that is from the natural sugars that come from the flavours within the jam and it has a some smooth mildness to it. The Jar is medium size so you want a good amount of produce for jam that can last you for a whole month or more depending on how much you use the jam. This product come with a traditional top and string wrapping around it meaning that this is a hand-made item and not a mass produced factory one so you are getting the real deal in this case. Good quality item with hardly any flaws with a good flavour and I am delighted to had purchased it as me and my family love it very much.

delicious jam
I have got the rose petals jam recently - it is delicious. I love its taste, scent, and its thickness. I am happy having found it and will be buying it in future for sure. Delivery was on time, packing was good.

Rose flavoured Heaven
Delicate and subtle flavour of rose which tastes even better on i.e. toast. texture is slightly runny with teensy parts of petals within the marmalade. Could be used as part of baking, on ice cream etc, that versatile a jam. Glad I purchased and recommend this item.

Delicious!
Arrived swiftly and really well packaged. The jam turned out to be absolutely delicious! Subtle, fragrant, adequately sweet. I mixed it with some mascarpone cheese to make a spread for my homemade shortcrust pastry, and then garnished it all with lightly roasted almond flakes - divine!

Intriguing violet jam
Delighted with this - divine scent: will use for violet jam and dark chocolate truffles for the forthcoming festivities.Intriguing on waffles or crumpets too (no butter beneath the jam!), served with a good Keemun tea in the afternoon. Very much recommended.

Very disappointing
It doesn't taste like rose petals at all. There are visible petals in the jar but they don't have any aroma at all. The most expensive jar of sugar jelly - will end up in the bin. Absolute rip-off.
