IittalaTaika 13-1/2-Ounce Capacity Mug , Red

I use these every day. They are thick enough to keep my tea hot but the rim is thinner than a typical coffee mug and they are not a heavy lift. I love the whimsical Finnish folklore design. The best thing about these is they are porcelain, so rubbing a little salt on the tea stains returns the mug to snowy white. Also they do not chip the way ceramic mugs do, and they are practically unbreakable.

As some others noted, this mug is not made in Finland. Being Finnish myself - I wish it was.* I must say that even though it is made in Thailand, it is still a really nice mug. The exterior design shows no flaws. The coloring is consistent and the mug is appropriately thick and durable.It holds at least 13 oz of coffee plus any cream or sugar. (I've previously owned a mug that was literally a 13 oz mug, but the coffee would fill right up to the top without any cream or sugar). Don't worry with this mug, you will get exactly 13 oz of coffee plus a little extra space for stirring in cream and sweetener without splashing.For K-Cup users: I find that using a dark roast like Dark Magic works perfectly using the "quarter turn method" with this mug. This is where you pour a full cup (8 oz) and then you remove the K-cup, squeeze or flick the cup a little bit and return it back into the Keurig machine about a quarter turn and make the smaller 5oz pour. Then you will have a nice large 13oz coffee to enjoy.*Would I pay an extra $10 or so for this mug to be made in Finland. Yes, I would ... But I don't know how many other people would. Comparing this mug to a "made in Finland" Marimekko Unikko mug, I still prefer this Iittala mug - it's larger and in my opinion has a nicer design (while still having the same level of quality).

I had an older mug of this same design but the newer one has a smaller handle. Other than that it's the same high quality beautiful mug. BTW I dropped and broke the old one, but it was still in perfect shape.

These beautiful porcelain cups are perfect for the right amount of morning coffee. They are beautifully designed, lovely to look at. We bought our first one at Zabar's in NYC and quickly ordered another and gave 4 to our daughter and her husband, who love them as much as we do.

I had already bought espresso cups like this and really liked them. After accidentally breaking a couple of my standard cups, I decided to give this cup a try.I love it. It is big enough to hold a large cappuccino and has a nice feel in your hands; like fine china, but more durable. I like that it is safe in both the microwave and the dishwasher as well. The quirky design painted on the cups is very appealing to both my wife and me. I bought one of the blue and one of the white cups.I had debated whether to get this size or the smaller size, but am very happy with this size for our cappuccinos. The smaller size is a little over 7 oz and this on is just about 13 oz (both sizes filled to the brim).

I bought this mug as a gift for a coffee drinker to use at the office. It's a beautiful design, and beautifully made. All the edges are finished and smooth. The cup says that it's microwave and dishwasher safe, and the look/feel of the materials seems consistent with that. It's a biggish mug so I don't think of it as a morning coffee kind of cup, but large volume coffee drinkers may disagree. It's a little pricey, but seemed perfect as a 1-off gift. (The recipient loved it.) I might have had to think twice about it if I were buying complete service for eight.

Ho dovuto acquistarla perché ne ho rotta una. Eccezionale per cioccolata , ma ottima anche per tisane e cappuccino. Almeno questo è il mio parere.

I love these mugs in all the styles available. The quality is beautiful and the design seems to fit in any surroundings. I find myself dangerously drawn to the whole Iittala china collection and have been fighting the urge for weeks to buy their plates and smaller cups as well as glasses, all of which feature this timeless and elegant design. They can be easily chipped if you drop one into a sink while washing it, as I did, but for this quality of china I think that's not unusual. I replaced it immediately with one the same. I'm addicted.
