It actually works!
They probably spent more money to package this product in their nifty little envelopes than the actual ingredients are worth, but the electrolytes actually work after heavy endurance activities. After about an hour run I mix this with a 20 ounce sweetened beverage and get a soothing relief of relaxation that I attribute to the electrolytes, or rather the "gatorlytes" as the packing calls it, i believe containing sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium? (read the box for ingredients). The directions say mix with a 20 ounce Gatorade beverage and this adds the extra electrolytes. I don't actually do that, I have my own homemade sweetened beverage, a juice blend, and stir this into it. I can really tell a huge difference. my punch alone is sweet and has few electrolytes, so I really need this. I sweat a lot during my run, and drinking water afterwards doesn't quince my thirst. But this hits the spot, and as soon as I've downed it feel massively refreshed, a bit relaxed, and even a little drowsy. Sometimes I mix up two 20 ounce drinks. Really Good Stuff for me. Yes it's a little salty. No don't mix it with straight water.

Great way to add potassium to your diet
It was the gatorlyte that we expected. Helps soo much to get my mom electrolytes back in save levels.

Not THAT salty
If you are thirsty enough mid or post workout, you will NOT taste the salt. If you aren't thirsty enough that the salt doesn't bother you then you do NOT need this product. These are primarily for endurance athletes training for at least an hour per workout who suffer severe cramps. These are the only thing that have helped me prevent muscle cramps! I run around 30-40 mi a week in 10 mi intervals. My runs can take around 2 hours to complete. Drinking water alone (usually 3 or more 20oz bottles, based on my thirst) during extended runs like this make me feel extremely depleted, shaky, mood-swingy, nauseous, and leaves me with extremely painful foot and calf cramps post-workout.Replacing a water bottle with a bottle of G2 and a gatorlyte package pretty much relieves all of my symptoms. It is salty if you drink it before you work out or after you finish, but man oh man, if you train HARD and drink it during your actual workout, you're extremely unlikely to care about the slight salty taste. It is even kind of refreshing to me now, knowing that I'm safely replacing so much of the sodium and potassium lost during my run. I really can't taste the salt very much at all so long as I'm hot, thirsty, and moving around.I'd recommend these to anyone with similar symptoms or who trends to drink a ton during workouts and is concerned about water toxicity. These work extremely well.

Good n Salty
I have used this product for long distance triathlons that were held in hot and humid locations. They work well and are a good product, but the taste is pretty salty. I understand they should taste salty as they are high in sodium and other electrolytes that you sweat out, but I found that I wanted to drink it less in a big race, which is not a good thing when you need to drink a lot of fluids. On my next race I only used 1/2 a packet in a 25 oz bottle and it was much better. In different scenarios the taste has changed for me. I think a lot of how you will perceive the saltiness will depend on how cold your drink is, how dehydrated you are and how you are feeling mentally at the moment.I have only mixed this with Gatorade. The taste is not horrible (if you can swallow gels and such you will be able to get this down just fine) but it is not great, especially in a long race where your fluids have gotten warm. As far as what they claim to do, they do add much needed electrolytes.Recommendation: These work great for replacing electrolytes and preventing cramps etc.. but if you are super picky/sensitive to taste, this may be a salty punch to the face. I have never tried another electrolyte replacement so I don't know if they all taste like this. I bought these because I use a lot of Gatorade products and think it is a great brand.

Excellent, outstanding product
I have been using Gatorlytes since they were first provided to me by the head trainer for a top tier sports team many years ago. This is the only product I have used that makes a significant difference in cramps while I am in competitive tennis in heat. Also, having suffered from nighttime leg cramps for many years, I discovered a few years ago that the combination of sodium and magnesium and Gatorlytes has been significantly beneficial to me in avoiding those awful cramps. I conferred with my doctor about whether I was consuming too much sodium, considering that I am a senior and might worry about the effects of too much of that.Gatorlytes has 780 mg of sodium and that is about a third of a teaspoonful, so it’s not dangerous.I give the product a very high recommendation. Putting it into a Gatorade drink does make it taste good, although I have found that I do well by just drinking it in a glass of 6 to 8 ounces of water. Salty, sure, but that’s what it’s for.
