So cute
These candles were such a hit . I did the Harry Potter themed decorations this year for Halloween , and they were perfect. I Do wish I would have gotten the ones with the wand or remote. Because pushing the button on the bottom of all 12 of these was a pain ! But they did the job! I might have to end up getting the remote ones next year, and just using these for my windows and tables on Christmas .

The Great Hall at home
Harry Potter fans, take note! Want to turn your dining room into Hogwarts' Great Hall? Probably the most important thing you'll need is a bunch of floating candles. As these things go, this set is one of the lower priced versions available on Amazon which is good in the respect that you'll need several sets to pull off a decent Great Hall. Each candle uses a single AA battery which is more budget friendly than some others that take two. Of course, one battery will not light the candle as long as two would, so it really depends on your personal preference as to which you'd prefer. There is no fishing line or hooks included, though, so you'll want to think about that when choosing floating candles. The main issue you might have is that there is no remote control. Now the info does tell you this straight up front so you can't complain about it, but depending on how you plan to use them, you want to consider this. You must turn each candle on and off individually, which could be a big pain if you are using a lot, particularly if you aren't fond of climbing up and down ladders. Of course, if you are using these in standard tabletop candle holders, this won't be an issue, but it is one more thing to think about. Most of these you see with the fishing line tied around the base of the candle. Since the weight is off balance, the candles will list to one side or the other. I found that the tip of the flame is soft enough to push a needle with monofilament through so the line attaches to the center of the candle and the candle floats more straight up and down. As for the look of the candles, they don't look particularly realistic, but they do have molded fake wax drips which is a more candle-like touch. The flickering flame is a nice effect. You aren't going to fool anyone with these floating candles, but if you're going for ambience, these will work nicely, and these are among the lower cost options.

For Floating Candles - a little lacking compared to other "Floating Candles"
Plus- For tabletop, shelf, or mantle use - seems to be a pretty good fit with the right candle holder- Flicker effect looks pretty good - standard for this type of prop.Minus- If you want hanging candles: - The way it is described to hang them is to lasso the flame neck area - which does not make it look as good as others that hang by the tip of the flame - The lack of a remote means you have to keep them in reachable height to turn them on and off - hard to get a Hoggwart's effect with low candles! - Implied before, they don't seem like they were originally designed to be hung.

Doesn't have a remote
My niece absolutely loves Harry Potter (and so do I), and I had to try these floating candles. They look so fun for a Halloween or Harry Potter themed party. Each candle only takes one AA battery compared to most which take two. Still not the most environmental friendly. They don't come with wire to thang them on. Which is a pain if you don't have fishing wire already. But, what is most inconvenient is that there isn't a remote to turn them on and off. So, it is pain when you want to turn them on or off. There are plenty of floating candles out there. I would recommend one with a hanging kit and remote.
