I have several migraine caps, including this one from AVCOO. This one has a terry like fabric on the opposite side, so you can switch the feel that is next to your skin. I prefer the original silky material. This has a Velcro close on it... which really wasn't needed and keeps the entire cap from being cooling. Other than that it's a pretty standard migraine cap... with maybe the gel being a little thicker than others... Nice... not quite perfect.

I had bought a very similar head mask for migraines. That one did not have Velcro but was one loop that slid tightly over your forehead and eyes.This one is better for a couple of reasons:1. The Velcro is nice because it probably helps people who's heads are larger or smaller than average. I particularly like it because if I wake up with a sweaty neck I can grab this from the freezer, lay it out on my pillow flat and cool down quickly.2. It has a fabric lining instead of being simply the cooling gel fabric. This is nice because it's not as much of a shocking brain freeze. The other one is painful straight from the freezer and you have to wait for it to slightly warm up.It's about the same price as the other one and I feel the construction is way higher quality. I like the flexibility of a really long ice pack versus only being able to use it as a head wrap (or lumpy ice pack.) I don't think it's necessarily doing anything much for migraines but it does distract and sometimes that's about as good enough as you can expect while in pain.Edit: changing to 5 stars instead of four. Have already used multiple times velcroed around my neck while working outside during high-hat days. Way better design with the Velcro than the one that only fits over your head.

The gel it contains actually feels cool (not chilly mind you, but not room temp either), which made it nice to put over my face. The whole thing is also reversible if you want to feel a different fabric texture. The strap is also velcro and thus easily adjustable to your preferred tightness. Although the mask is kinda heavy, it's not uncomfortable or unwieldy either. Honestly, my only real critique is that even though it covers the face, it doesn't block light like a sleep mask does. However, since that wasn't part of the actual sales pitch, that mistake is my own and in no way effects my rating of the product.

I have several of the one piece migraine hats and I end up never using them. I just really don't like how tight they feel on my head and they end up losing their coolness very quickly. They tend to make me feel very claustrophobic. This one came along with the velcro strap attachment and I thought I would give it a try.The ability to adjust the tightness of the cap made a huge difference! I no longer felt like my head was being squeezed. It also seemed to hold the cold a lot longer. Plus, I could use it for other applications just by opening it up and laying it flat. I will probably end up giving away all my other migraine caps and just keeping this one, possibly ordering another one to keep cold at all times.
