Care of grater after use was a breeze. All it took was swishing in soapy water and holding it under running water for few seconds.Excellent tool to have for times when grater is needed to add something special to culinary delights

Compact Ginger Grater Works Well
This is a review of the ginger grater by Wablade. In general, this small grater works well, is easy to grasp, and easily grinds the ginger. The result is more like a paste than shreds. To test, I chose a fresh, plump 2 ounce piece of ginger. I didn’t peel the fairly thin skin on it. At first I found the grated ginger was accumulating and being pushed off the edge of the grater onto the counter. I tried cutting a smaller piece off, more like the 1-inch piece that is usually called for in a recipe. That was easier to manage, and the material mostly stayed on the grater’s surface. I was able to grate the last little bit of the ginger as far down as I could hold it without damaging to my fingers. Then, I went back to the large piece and concentrated on keeping all of the paste on the grater plate. I found that after about a teaspoon was grated I had to move it into a bowl so it wouldn’t be pushed off the grater onto the counter.Clean up was easy. The bits of fiber that were left tangled in the grater were just rinsed off under the faucet, and I dried it by pressing it (not rubbing it) onto a towel. It is easier to clean than a microplane. It is so compact that I can store it in the little bowl that I store my ginger in.

TINY!!
My fault for not reading measurements I suppose but man this thing is TINY especially for almost $30 I paid for it. The grater part works okay but easily gums up and since the thing is so small the ginger or garlic I'm grating slides off onto the work surface. I wish it had a handle or something. The quality is excellent, just too small.

Amazing grater that will outlive me
I have always used a microplane to grate ginger, garlic, and nutmeg. Ginger is very hard on a microplane and I have gone through a number of them over the years. This incredible grater does a better job and nothing I can use on it is going to put any wear on it at all. I wasn't sure if it would do nutmeg but it works like a champ. Garlic is even finer than from a microplane. Even though I don't normally do it I had some cinnamon sticks around and I tried to grind some cinnamon. It might not have been as fine a powder as the pre-ground stuff, but it was very usable and seemed to have more flavor (just like nutmeg always does). To get the last bit of what I just grated I grabbed a new toothbrush and used that to gently brush away from the teeth. It worked great. I haven't tried hard cheese yet but I'm sure it will work and I still have a microplane for that anyway. This will probably be the last grater I ever get.

Overall it's fine
Only pureed garlic with it and it does a good job, but the thing is really tiny. Wish there was more room. Pretty pricy for what you're getting.

Pricey, but very nicely made
It has a shark skin feel and I'd love some real Wasabi but I'm using it for ginger and it does work giving a very fine grate that is perfect for me just to add to water and swig down. At $30 you have to like the higher-end items and I know they ultimately can make these on a mass scale, but if you were to make one yourself in this shape and with equivalent cut marks it would cost you a lot more.

Small but mighty!
This grater came beautifully packaged in a little box ... in fact, I was surprised at how small and light it actually is. BUT .... it works really, really well !I use ginger a lot in cooking and previously just tried to chop it up as finely as I could. This little grater creates a fine, almost paste-like result which means no more chunks of ginger and improved flavor. The grate prongs are very small but, as someone who has lost the top of my knuckles enough times on regular graters to be cautious, I would not like to connect with these. They are sharp and effective .... ! You do need to be careful and stay aware of how close your finger tips are getting to the grater base.Although this little grater is small and very easy to clean, I have dropped one star mainly because there isn't much to hold on to when you're grating and the small size of the grater means you don't have a lot of space for your end result. I had ginger spilling out over the edge.I've only tried this with ginger at this point but, overall, I"m very happy with this grater and will get a lot of use out of it. It would make a great gift for those cooks you know that have just about everything else in their kitchens.
