Exploring the Bible: A Bible Reading Plan for Kids

A great way to get kids started on reading the Bible ...
A great way to get kids started on reading the Bible daily. Simple answers and short passages so geared towards 7-11 year olds. I really like how they have structured the Sunday entry differently. They structure it around Sunday worship. A section for the sermon passage and then a place to write down a few notes or the outline.

Great for walking kids through the bible from start to finish. Definitely a highly recommendable one. I have started with my 5 year old and he is able to figure it out.

Simple and Thorough
I started this bible study a few months ago with my 2nd grader. It is composed of 6 lessons for each week, and it has a section to complete sermon notes for Sunday. It takes 5-10 minutes to complete each day, and she is able to do it independently. The lessons within the study do not have interpretation or explanations (which I love!). It simply takes FANTASTIC chronological and methodical steps through the Bible by following the major characters and themes. I use it with the NIrV version of the Bible, so that my child can read the verses independently. I sit alongside and make sure that she understands what she has read, and then there is one question from the reading each day. I honestly think this should be tweaked into a Bible study for adults who were not raised knowing the basic stories of the Bible. This study is fantastic! It would truly be a blessing (for it is not burdensome) for any child who has an adult interested in leading them through it.

Not deep enough for my sons
I bought this for my sons to do in the mornings before school. Honestly, they just couldn't get into this study. Usually we use the Explorer's Bible Study and we have gone back to that one. I think this one was just too drawn out for them and dry. For example, each day has a few verses to read and one question to answer. That may be perfect for a very young elementary aged child, but for my 5th and 7th grade boys who have been deeply studying the Bible for years, this was way too simplistic. Explorer's Bible Study is more in depth and requires more from the children daily, with a passage, questions, and prayer to finish up the session. I think this particular study is great for children just being introduced to the idea of reading the Bible each day, and that's probably the whole purpose of the book. I just have two advanced boys and needed something more meaty. If I were just starting out with my sons at 5-7, this would be perfect for me.

More than a moralistic "Christian comic book."
Just what I was looking for for my sons! I've found most children's Bibles and curriculum simply attach moralistic lessons to well-known Bible stories. This book on the other hand, encourages kids to read the Bible for themselves and provides basic questions to point them to the overarching redemptive narrative found in Scripture. If you're looking for an entertaining Christian comic book replacement, this probably isn't for you. However, if you're looking for a great tool for encouraging your kids to dig in to the truths of the Bible for themselves, I highly recommend this book!

Great little devitional for kids
I got this for my daughter to get into the habit of reading the Bible daily. The lessons are very short, which is good for her (8 years old) and there is a place on Sunday for her to take notes on the sermon. We've extended her bedtime so that she can do the devotional, so she's extra excited about it.

The Best I've ever seen
I would highly recommend this reading plan for kids. It is easy to follow and doesn't require reading more than 5 or 6 scriptures a day. To demonstrate to my children's church class (small class 6 kids ages 9-13) how easy it is, we went through the entire week of reading in one class. I think they were relieved to find out it didn't take too long.this is a great tool to inspire kids to read their Bible.

Start a daily habit of Bible reading
I bought one for each of my kids (ages 7, 9, 11) to start this summer. It gets them opening their Bibles every day. It's quick, but a great tool to develop what will hopefully become a lifelong habit. Once a week we review what they have done and look over the intro for the next week. I would highly recommend this!!!

I love this book
I love this book! I am not great about reading it daily, but my kids are memorizing the weekly verse and learning about the Bible. It really doesn't take long to do each lesson so we usually do it as a family during dinner. We haven't gotten through the whole book yet but this far in I highly recommend it!

Perfect for Children
This is a great bible study for children. It is simple and easy to understand, yet requires them to read and pay attention to what they are reading. I highly recommend!
