RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND PEOPLE CD 1-2 (NEW EDITION) Audio CD – Audiobook, 16 Mar. 2006

I bought this as the recommended text book for a Beginners Russian Course I am taking. It's a good textbook for a beginner but is probably best used alongside a taught lesson, as it doesn't explain everything fully so useful to have a teacher to check things with! The book gives you good vocabulary for conversational Russian, and indicates where the stress is in all the words, so this is very helpful for learning how to speak Russian, as well as learning to read it.Also, I found it helpful to get the CD to go with it, as there are a lot of listening exercises (and it helps with pronunciation!), but you'll have to do this separately as the CD doesn't come with the book.

Good product to go with the book which I recently purchased

Just started using the product so cannot judge too much yet, suppose my progress in the language will be the proof in the pudding! Da svedanya!

If you're an expert, you don't need this book. But if you're a beginner Russian Language and People will be very useful to you. It provides interesting insights into everyday life in post-Soviet Russia as well as into the history of the country. Even if you don't have a skill for languages you will find it very stimulating and entertaining and your skills of understanding Russian will improve a lot. One of the best language courses for beginners that has ever been published with numerous exercises and it's designed for individual study and for classroom use.

THE CD IS VERY UNRELIABLE IT DOES NOT PLAY CONSISTENTLY. FORTUNATELY WE HAVE HAD ACCESS TO ANOTHER COPY AT NIGHT SCHOOL.

This is a great course to follow at your own pace or with a class group. CD is great for repetition and to use on car journeys to get authentic pronunciations.

It's easy to learn. Am impressed.
