A new improved version of the pen mouse I remember from the 1990s
I used a pen mouse made by Logitech back in the 90's that had a roller ball in the end and a cable that terminated with a PS2 connector. This device is a far cry from that old mechanical version as it is optical and wireless!Using the 2.4 g wireless dongle via USB, the hassle of the cable is gone and the optical tracking is just as smooth as any regular optical mouse you've ever used. There is a button on the end of the pen that serves as the left mouse button - operated by one's index finger - the scroll wheel is directly behind it. The left mouse button is placed where it can be operated by one's thumb. Then there is the 'mystery' button - called the 'M' button by the manufacturer.Using the software the manufacturer 'provides' via a download link (called AI Office) the 'M' button allegedly allows you to activate speech to text, translation of your spoken language to others on the list and fill in forms by voice alone. The only problem is that when you do finally get the software to download with errors, the functions it offers do not work at all - at least with Win11. It took me 4 tries to successfully download the 'AI Office' .exe file and once it did install and run, it did little or nothing. Avoid the download, don't waste your time! The device works just fine as a pen mouse without any drivers on Win11.If you've used a pen mouse before, you'll know what to expect. If a pen mouse is a new thing to you, your mileage may vary. It does indeed function as it should! If the software worked, I would have given it five stars. It really is a smooth operating pen mouse and is very light weight. The base/holder is so light weight that I added some lead fishing weights, secured with hot glue to hold the thing down and provide a stable desktop holder for the pen mouse when it is not being used.It works great for me and I like it a lot. It comes with USB C & Micro USB to USB A adapters, so you can use the 2.4g dongle with your phones and tablets.Yes, it does work just fine with my Samsung tablets running Android OS.Overall this is a very cool and useful device - the non-functional software they offer is really not needed nor missed when you use this device. Two thumbs up.

A really cool gadget - but not perfect
I was initially a little dubious about using a pen-like device as a mouse replacement, but overall I have been pretty impressed with this little gadget. It's very lightweight, almost to the point of making it feel cheap. Basically, you hold it like a pen, and the button which emulates the left mouse button on a conventional mouse sits under your index finger, while the scroll wheel is slightly behind it. The right mouse button equivalent sits under your thumb, and you simply move the pen around to move your mouse pointer as if you are writing. The version I received is only suitable for right-handers, so southpaws are out of luck unless there's a dedicated left-hand version available. The back of the device has a small capacitance nub on it so it can be used for touchscreens on your laptop or phone - pretty handy. To use the device, you must insert a AAA battery (not included) by removing the back part of the device revealing a small battery bay. There are no markings at all on the device indicating the required orientation of the battery, nor is this indicated in the included instruction booklet. Trial and error revealed that the negative end is inserted first, and the device powered up once this was done. Installation is easy - it comes with a small yellow dongle which is inserted into a standard USB port on your PC, and assuming the pen-mouse is powered on, it immediately pairs with the dongle and can be used immediately. There are also adapters included with the package to adapt the dongle to USB-C and micro-USB ports if needed. An app must be downloaded to realize the full abilities of the device, which supposedly includes the ability to use it as a voice dictation implement. I say "supposedly" because after two attempts to install the software, I could not get it to run or function in any way on my Windows 11 laptop. Not sure what the problem is, but I have to take off points because of this. Perhaps I'll be able to get it installed and working at some later date. The pen-mouse comes with a small desktop holder which is a little tippy when the battery is installed but keeps it handy and out of the way when not in use. Using the device takes getting used to, but the angle that you hold it is natural and comfortable and requires no real adjustment. It seems responsive enough for normal mousing but doesn't seem suitable for gaming. The main use of this device would be for everyday office computer use in which case it uses less real estate than a conventional mouse and is probably less likely to cause long-term problems. Recommended.
