This charcoal grill grate makes it so easy to stack you charcoal in the snake method. And you can turn it over and all the charcoal will stay in the center of the grate. I have used it enough to tell about the durability. But I think it will last a long, long time. I did a 9 hour cook on it and it worked great.

It's great for expanding the charcoal capacity or creating a natural charcoal snake IF you're using briquettes, or larger lump coal. The grates are spaced a little wider than I'd like, because smaller pieces will fall through and block the vents. If you're using lump, make sure you're either using larger chunks or keep using the standard charcoal grate.

The only problem i could potentially see with this is over a LONG cook you may need to sweep the ash dump to keep the vents clear. But that's just because it can hold so much charcoal!!You can also flip it the other way for quick and easy snake rings! HONESTLY you can get away without charcoal baskets by just piling over on one side, this should be the standard grate

Nice product but..... There is too much space between the steel bars so a lot of coals fall through when they are only half consumed. I will probably not use it much or have to modify it. It's too bad more thought didn't go into it. I like the concept and will take it to a welding shop for modification.
