Posting is very misleading about item you will recieve
The product info table gives the item dimensions as 14.96 x 11.02 x 1.97 inches but the actual board is 11 x 7.5. But you won't see this unless you scroll way way down the product page to see a different "product description" section after the "related products" postings and other informationThe size given in the product information table is likely the external dimensions of the product box not the item itself. As far as the item goes. The surface is very textured and marbled in appearance. I don't think this is real diatom material. It appears to be a 1 mm thick plastic board with some thin coated material on the surface. It sort of feels more like the chalkboard paint I once did my kids room with. That behaved the same when you wiped it with a wet cloth.Any water applied to it disappears in seconds not 2-3 minutes as the listing indicates. You have to put on a very heavy stroke to have it stick around for more than 20-30 seconds. In other words fine strokes are pointless, they'll be gone instantly. All that aside though I got this to practice airbrushing and for that purpose I think it will work well but I don't think it will serve well for the claimed applications except for very heavy strokes so might be fine for kids.On the plus side the stand that comes with it also works great for iPads and other tablets. If you have a chance to try this out before buying one I'd recommend you do. The first one of these I ever tried was an actual slab of diatomaceous earth, like the shower mats you can get. The water applied to that seemed to take longer to fade away.
