This is probably the best Light show creator at its price point. Although the unit has only 6 channels and requires primarily LED lights to operate, it is still more versatile than any other light show system under $300. Programming the lights is a breeze and editing is just as simple. I cannot say enough about the excellent customer support from Asante as they were very helpful with just about every question I had. The unit is well designed and the built in speaker delivers excellent sound. You can program the lights or you can let tap tap do that for you. As stated elsewhere, you can download and program up to 10 songs (up to 4 minutes each). I’ve found that with six sets of lights, it’s best to keep the music under three minutes to keep the light show from getting repetitive.The unit allows you to dim the lights, however LEDs generally go on or off and I have yet to figure out the dimming part. When I do, I’ll update my review here. Overall, a great system that can create a professional looking light show at a very affordable price.

The media could not be loaded.  I have been looking for an easy way to create light shows for years and was very skeptical when I came across this unit. I have used other systems like Mr. Christmas and although it worked great, you could not personalize it with your own music. And as much as I would love to own one of those multi-channel RGB systems, they are way out of my budget and my electrical skills are severely lacking. TapTap is a happy medium. Not only does this system allow you to upload your own songs, it offers a simple way to create your own light show by either allowing the unit to generate a show for you via Magic Play or you can manually create a show by using the app and tapping along. The manual way can be very tedious and time consuming, but really worth it if you are interested in creating unique, customized light shows. I chose a different approach for my light display and synced the lights to a singing face. I didn't think it would work, but it did! And being able to preview and visualize your creations before you set up your display outside is really great. I would have given this item 5 stars if you could daisy chain more than one unit to get more channels or if you could add more than 10 of your own songs. I also wish there was an undo feature when using the app or a way to edit the songs on a PC instead of a tablet. It is not easy to be precise when your fat fingers are constantly getting in the way. But for the price point, this is the best of what's out there.

The media could not be loaded.  This thing rocks, it was tough to get the Wi-Fi working initially but the support team was super helpful and guided me to a resolution. I already had an older light show system from GE but it only had preset Christmas songs that were kind of boring, I wanted to be able to upload my own songs and let the kids help program the lights. On my first few attempts I was pleasantly surprised with how good the system generated light show is out of the box and I tried it on a few songs just to see if it was a fluke and they all came out great. Can't wait to set up more light shows, the each have different time settings so you can have one for each hour of the evening. I will update my review if anything changes, but as of right now I highly recommend!Update: Now that I have had more time to use this I have a better idea how the system generated show works. For songs where the beat starts immediately and stays pretty constant throughout it does a pretty good job but for songs have a long intro or change it has trouble matching up, it also seems like the system show has a lot of neat effects but it's kind of a similar show for all songs with just an adjusted beat.I am deducting 1 start because: The device has a 10 song limit and 10MB per song which is maybe 3-4 minutes per song. The limited factory songs they include pre-programmed are just OK, the app UX is a little confusing at first and the 100 watt per channel limit means I am literally at the limit of it's power capacity after shuffling things around a bit.

Awesome product. I have been looking for a devise that would allow me to synchronize my Christmas light display without having to use professional systems. This one is plug and play and is a great balance of giving your light display a professional look combined with ease of use. The Ipad app works great. I had no issue with the initial setup and continued use of the TapTap. I would highly recommend.

Easy to use and add music to. Works great

I bought this to replace an older music light box I had when it died. This one is 1000% better because I can load up my own songs, etc. I would give it 5 stars if I could upload more music because it has more space to store it. I found it best to use all LED lights to get the most amount of lights to run off of this one. It won't let you overload the system with too many. A great option compared to spending $1000s on the other systems that take a long time to setup.
