Flawed but still enjoyable
After a one year penalty for refusal to make it available online anywhere (was on Netflix, then pulled and not available anywhere else), I finally decided to get one of my favorite series on DVD. Special features would've been nice, but there are none, in favor of presenting the episodes authentic to how they were originally aired. From my perspective, every regular episode had 5 minutes of bonus footage that gets cut for recent TV airing.Volumes have been written on how amazing this show was, so I have little to add, except that it has had a profound influence on my life. I find myself quoting it frequently, and that it's a parallel to my life, alternating between hilarious and very serious, sometimes in the same scene. So this is overall a good set, but with several quirks: (EDIT - this was my experience on a PC, some of these were non-issues on an older DVD player). • Seasons 1-3 have a DVD issue, where flow between chapters is terrible, and the result is skipping and/or hesitation between chapters. • Seasons 1-3 do not have a Play All feature, so episodes have to be selected one at a time. • Most of the discs, when inserted, leave you at the menu for the first episode, instead of the episode list (with its occasional Play All option). • Amazon's 30 day return policy is absurdly unreasonable in this situation! It's an enforced binge watch of all 34 discs (over 100 hours) to check for flaws if you want any recourse. Sure enough, there were defects, one bad enough to prevent a few episodes from playing through. Fortunately, customer service made good on it when I reported the flaw and inability to watch them all after 29 days.I look forward to enjoying all those classics, but the flaws and absence of special features will always be there.

Love the show but Minor Nitpicks w/DVD format
I'm a M*A*S*H fan from when the show aired and am glad I can now see these episodes again IN THEIR ENTIRETY and not butchered due to syndication. That said, I have a couple of minor nitpicks w/the Season 8 DVD in terms of production assembly.I just started viewing it and I noticed that several episodes following Radar's departure erroneously have the same opening credits that were used prior to his departure. In short, these episodes made AFTER Radar's departure STILL show Gary Burghoff's name on them (as "Also Starring Gary Burghoff as Radar").I watched every episode of this season (except "Dreams", which I kicked myself for missing back then) when they originally aired and remember quite clearly that all the episodes following Radar's departure (and even the 'Are You Now Margaret' episode which preceeded Radar's departure but did NOT feature Burghoff even in a cut-away scene) had the opening credits that ONLY listed the remaining 7 cast members.Additionally, I'm a bit surprised that the DVD jacket and one of the 3 DVDs emphasize the Radar character in spite of him appearing only on 4 episodes.

Matured
I've probably seen most of the entire series, however I've now gone through 1-9 over the past year and a half. Season 8 is certainly another excellent season of MASH, however I have been noticing it's maturity and the difference in the series since it's earlier season's. Bottom line, Season 8 will not disappoint, however you may notice what I have: the changes, with the loss and addition of several actors/characters.Perhaps moreso in Season 9, but I'm noticing much more 'friendliness' amongst the characters and the way they interact. As opposed to the good clean fun and practical jokes they would play on one another. They say the first one(s) are usually better than the sequal(s). While I don't necessarily think the later season's are 'worse' by any means, I am seeing the maturity in the series as it progressed.

Still a great series after all these years
This was such a fun show and I'm happy to finally have these DVDs in my collection to rewatch whenever I want. I used to have them recorded off TV but the station never aired all of the episodes and I've found several on the DVDs for these last few seasons that I had never even seen before. The only thing I don't like about this DVD set is that unlike the other older DVD releases, these don't let you take off the laugh track, but at least there is a "Play All" option!

Love the show
This version doesnt have a list of shows on each disk so I have had to put it in to see what a disk has. But I love the show so it doesn't really bother me.

A FINE SERIES FALTERING?
The Korean War drags on - hopes high when peace talks resume, despair when they collapse. More than ever doctors, nurses and patients crave for home. Potter fears for his forty year marriage to MIldred; BJ pines at missing so much of his little girl's growing up (will she even recognize her dad?); Radar receives family news requiring immediate attention. Meanwhile patients, so many so young, continue to be patched up so they can return to the front line. A visiting surgeon has a complete mental breakdown - a devastating reminder to the medics this could so easily be them. Sleep offers no escape: always the war intrudes.Although laughs abound, some of the visual gags great, the show remains at its best when dealing with more serious matters. An uneven season. The first half is fine, several episodes very moving indeed (especially the fond farewell to one of their own). Inventive touches include when a clock ticks away on screen - reminder so little time left to save a certain life. Thoughts continue to be provoked, as when learning of the shocking future awaiting babies left behind by randy G.I.s.Sadly the season then tails off a little - some storylines weak, impression of a cast simply going through their paces. Just as the war dries up for a while, the season itself seems to lose momentum. Thanks to the fine cast, there is still much to enjoy - final episode a return to form.(Shame such a rigmarole trying to get rid of that laughter track.)

Mash
Settling down to watch Mash is like snuggling in for a night with old friends, and this season 8 is no exception. Its well written, often by Alan Alda and a little more bitter sweet than some of the earlier series. Just off to order series 9. Watched the lot first time round in the 70's and enjoying them even more now. Dont care if this shows my age. Enjoy.

MASH season 8
This has been a great programme, watched regularly now the DVDs are available. However, unfortunately series 8 becomes increasingly 'shouty' from the second disc onwards- with all characters shouting at each other much of the time. It doesn't help to turn down the volume either. This makes it very tense to watch, I feel like telling them all to calm down. I am reluctant to buy series 9, 10 and 11 in case they are the same. Has anyone else had the same experience? What about the last three series?
