This sling is good for dogs much larger (over 100lbs)
This was just the trick to help our 60lb Aussie back to health. He suffered a spinal injury and is working his way back from total paralysis in the rear end. We were using a belly sling, but it was akward and put pressure on his bladder but also didnt let him pee freely. This harness removes that restriction, and allows him to defecate without an issue as well. This should really be 4.5 stars, and I only downgrade it because the size is a bit too large. This sling is good for dogs much larger (over 100lbs), so with a medium sized dog you are almost at the end of the adjustment. Not sure it will work for a smaller dog. As it is, it still works great on my dog, but there is a lot of excess harness strap flopping around. We leave the harness on him nearly all the time without any discomfort. The rear lift strap is very handy and located right above his body so you aren't trying to lift with your upper arms. The other plus is that we were able to walk him with us carrying some of his weight and keeping him from falling and that has sped his recovery significantly, I believe. After 2 months of dragging himself, he suddenly stood up and began shakily supporting himself.I heartily recommend this product, just be aware that the large size

Works Great
I purchased this for my dog who was unfortunately paralyzed for a month and is slowly regaining the use of his hind legs. This item was a God send. Once I had adjusted it to my dog it worked perfectly. No it was not like slipping on his neck collar. I did need to adjust each strap to fit his body but this was a one time thing. No you can't leave it on him at all times as it will slip off but that is due to the shape and flexibility of the dog not a deficit of the item. I have a feeling that the people who were complaining on the fit didn't spend much time adjusting it. Nothing would work on a quadrupeds hind quarters like a front harness. The configuration and shape of the anatomy is completely different. This harness allows me to walk my dog, control his movements so he doesn't injure himself more, saves my back (compared to being hunched over holding him up with a towel), and gives him some of his freedom back. He hated leaving his crate when I had to hold him up with a towel. Now he and I both enjoy going outside so that he may do his business and get some exercise (physical therapy). My vet loved it and said that she will be ordering a box of them for future use. She really liked that it could not become soiled (once properly adjusted), would work on various levels of paralysis/hind-quarter weakness, allowed for more freedom of movement for the walker and the dog, fit various dog sizes, and made it easier to do his physical therapy. In short I highly recommend this item, it really was a God send.

Helpful but tricky to use
We bought this for our 12 year old Golden Retriever who is losing muscle in his rear legs. Miles cannot get up on his own and needs assistance walking and doing his business. The major issue to using this is to adjust it properly. Once it is sized correctly it works very well. We leave the harness on all day and only take it off at night. A secondary problem is that it has to be readjusted frequently because the straps slip out of adjustment.PROS: helps support the rear legs so the dog can walk, get up, stand, or do business (both)strap helps you hold them up.CONS: have to readjust the harness dailyshould have a neck or shoulder part so it is not attached to the dog's collar which it pulls on.All in all it has been very useful and has definitely extended our dog's enjoyment of life.

Doesn't fit properly
I purchased this for my 55lb Australian Shepherd, who is battling cancer. He had a bad reaction to the first treatment and lost the use of his rear legs for a few weeks. I needed a way to lift him without hurting my back anymore. I thought this device would be perfect. It's not. It's supposed to fit a side range of weights, but the strap from the collar to the waist cannot be adjusted down for anything other than a very large dog. This makes it not secure on the legs and the slip off the legs and don't provide any comfort or support. It's also a pretty wide strap. Since you are using this to lift or stabilize a dog, it should be comfortable and I don't see how this one can be. Padding under the legs would probably help. The idea is great, but an epic fail for ALL size dogs.

It's okay
I bought this product for my 17 year old beagle to use when he relieved himself. He could walk and stand, but would sometimes fall because his hind legs were bad. The harness was too big for him, and it was heavy. He has to step into the harness, which was a little troublesome if you (as a pet parent) have a bad back. When it was on him, it did keep him upright, but we ended up just trailing him to help him from falling.

disappointed
I thought this would be easier to use. It took a long while to adjust, and attaching it to a collar made it uncomfortable for the dog, putting too much stress on his neck. I switched to a harness, and shortened the strap. It is hard, if not impossible, to put on unless the dog is already standing. Once in place, it does make it easy to lift the dog's hind legs.

Good product
I have said it before and they have not accepted my comment or review. The same day the harness arrived my beloved dog died of cardiac arrest. He suffered a terrible and very strange paralysis in his 2 back legs, by the time the harness arrived his two front legs were also parayized, consequently could no. use the harness. I could had return it, but it wouldn't had been fair to Amazon

Silver Tails Bottoms Up HARNESS for senior dogs
I have put it on my dog . He is thirteen and has neural myleopathy. We put it on him and the loops that touch the inside of his legs need cushioning. Also, the lead that connects to his collar travels to the side of his body as his collar is not glued to his neck. It will do in a pinch but we cannot leave it on him as indicated in the description. The straps are flimsy. The photo representing the harness doesn't seem to show a dog unable to use his back legs. I really hope someone in the position to expand on this idea will produce a better product. The idea is great but needs more thought.
