great to have around for grid-down scenario
This knock-off berkey filter is handy to have around. With a drill and a couple of food-grade buckets, you can improvise a water filter in minutes that can take care of your family. It even came with a priming bulb to make it easier. I don't have the equipment to conduct testing to verify that it is filtering all of the things it should be.

Great filters for Berkey
This filter is awesome. It fits perfectly. Only came with one washer so installed it that way. I’m hoping it will work well. I like that it filters quickly and has no smell or taste. Great value for the money.

Save money and use this filter.
I recently purchased the KrohneTec Fluoride Filters Replacement for my Big Berkey Water System, and I am extremely impressed with the product. I would definitely give it a five-star rating.First of all, the filters are an exact match for the Berkey filters, so they fit perfectly in my Big Berkey system. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy they were to install, and how seamlessly they integrated with my existing system. In addition, the KrohneTec filters are substantially cheaper than the Berkey brand filters, making them an incredible value for the money. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after using them for several weeks, I can confidently say that they work just as well as the Berkey filters, if not better. One of the things I appreciate most about the KrohneTec filters is their effectiveness at removing fluoride from my water. This is something that is very important to me, and the KrohneTec filters do an excellent job of ensuring that my water is safe and healthy to drink.Overall, I highly recommend the KrohneTec Fluoride Filters Replacement for Berkey. They are a great value for the money, and are an exact fit for the Berkey system. If you're looking for a high-quality, cost-effective alternative to Berkey brand filters, this is definitely the product for you.

Passable but not like the original
The original Berkey filters took most of the day to empty the top container. These take ~1/3 the amount of time which leads me to believe that they are more porous (less filtration).

Update! Changing to one star
UPDATE:At first I though these filters were fine. I now now longer recommend them at all. After about two weeks use I noticed a white powder was collecting on the bottom of my filter when I cleaned it out. I flushed these cartridges again and for a very long time. I then reinstalled them, filtered a couple of batches of water through the filter that I tossed out and tried again. The powdery residue was still collecting in the bottom. I flushed again under pressure and saved what was coming out and though it might just be air at this point but let the water settle overnight to see. The water never cleared up and there was just more residue settling on the bottom. I am guessing that it is the aluminum. I no longer recommend these filters and if you have them I would take them out and get rid of them. No matter how much flushing I try they are getting worse, not better. And yes, these are new filters. They are adding something to the water that isn't good and shouldn't be there.Original review:These filters seems just fine to me. I haven't sent a sample to a lab to check results, but they do pass the taste test and clarity test. Super easy to install even though they don't have instructions. They also come with the priming washer so you can flush them out to help remove particulates before use. All you have to do is put the washer on top of the filter, which is the larger and threaded part, and then place it against your faucet and run water through the filter. It's more than likely going to spray water all over so turn the faucet on slowly. I usually run it for about a minute and then just screw them onto the bottom of the black filters. I also will dump the first batch or two of water into the garden. After that you are good to go.No, these are not the expensive name brand. Are they as good? Without testing who knows. But is the name brand actually any better? Unless you are going to send off your own samples from your own particular water source you wont really know for sure.I'm willing to take the chance, but I do change my filters out more often than they probably need to be. And at this price I can change out filter three times a year for what it costs to change out once a year with the name brand. So even if they aren't as good I can still change them out more often and still save money. And the truth is they are probably just as good anyways.
