I've been using this light for portraits/weddings and love the results. This strobe consistently fires from a good distance and with control on the QPRO-N TTL trigger, it's a very flexible package. I have only had one or two misfires over hundreds of shots. Color consistency is solid. The battery lasts for multiple shoots. I have a couple of commercial shoots coming up that we'll need grids, snoots, etc. and I'm looking forward to using this light. I highly recommend this strobe for portraits, weddings, and any other project requiring a good light with portability, flexibility, and off-camera sweetness...

I had a defective unit, so this is an updated review. Customer support actually reached out to me and went above and beyond to make the situation right! Thank you 1000x!I have the new flash and ran it through its paces. Heres my takeaway.Portability is amazing! the case and ease to take it is great. Everything has its slot in the bag and its nice and tucked away. The flash itself synced right away, flash works exactly as it should. For the price and size this is exactly what I needed.Con: The only con I would say so far is the balancing on a standard tripod. With it being a rectangle box, and a softbox, it tends to really throw the weight forward. Almost to the point I get nervous of it tipping over. Its not the end of the world, but something I keep in mind whenever I use it. If this were outdoors and there was wind. If you have it higher up, theres a good chance it would tip due to the center of gravity.

After researching the costs of professional flash systems I was skeptical of this one at its price point. But, to my surprise this thing is powerful. You can counter the sun easily. I liked it so much I bought a second.

A 400W monolight (strobe/flash with a battery) is great for getting lots of light through a big modifier, or for competing with the sun. This new Q4 doesn't let me down in those respects. If you're in the Neewer flash system and need more power, this is the light for you.Though I like it, I have had some issues.First, let's get the complaint out of the way about proprietary batteries. I have three other kinds of Neewer flashes, and two of those have their own batteries that are different from each other and different from this new one. Not convenient. I'd love it if it took v-mounts or NP-F batteries.Next, the balance. The mini-briefcase design seems cool and I guess the handle does make it easier to carry around (though I wish it retracted). But by shunning the traditional torpedo shape of larger monolights, the center of balance shifts much more dramatically with small angle changes. This means you have to be a bit more aware of how to be safe with/around light stands, so please look up videos on this if you're not totally sure you know how. Seriously, it's not worth all the bad things that can happen with a falling light.Third, I couldn't get the multiflash to work. I'm using Neewer's latest QPRO trigger. It could be that I need to update the firmware on my trigger or on the Q4—because both have firmware updates available—but I hit a wall with Neewer. Updating the firmware requires their PC app, which doesn't work on my Mac.I wrote Neewer about this, and I just got some unhelpful reply that they'll pass along my message to their technical team. Lots of creative people have Macs and not PCs, so what were they thinking when they decided not to make firmware updates available to us? I have 4 Neewer flash products with updates out there I can't access (as of September 2023).Oh, and I'm confused as to why the case has crumbly styrofoam in it, rather than something more lasting. Grumble, grumble.I had my assistant (AKA spouse) hold the light on a stand on an outing, and we figured out its 5 pounds was too much for her to lug around in the future. She might be able to handle the lighter Q3. But the Q4 worked okay in the field. In fact, it survived some sideways rain into a covered park shelter, and I used it after that for a couple of home studio shoots. I can't promise it's weather-sealed and would recommend you cover it in rain.I could make it flash with the battery plugged in, so if you're somehow concerned that you'll need to flash 1,000 times in the studio and don't have an extra battery, this is probably a way around that.I've got some BTS and results sample pics for you, in case that helps.

I bought these as a Black Friday deal last fall because I knew I needed an upgrade from my crappy Godox basic lights, but wasn’t ready to invest the $1.0k in Profoto. I’m SOOOO happy I went with the decision to go with Neewer. From the ease of transport due to the beautiful carrying case, to the high speed sync option which allows for much more variation in my settings, these strobes really are as good as everyone says. I don’t know how much difference the $1.0k Profoto’s would get me, but honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever find out because I love these so much. Highly recommend!

I have never used flash before and was not sure that it would be worth or not.But after using this flash you completely elevate your photography skills. Works great outdoors as well and amazing battery life.

This is a great. Portable flash for the price.The only thing I noticed is if you take a couple of shots quickly, yhe 2nd shot is slightly dimmer that the initial shot. It’s not a huge deal but if you compare the 2 it’s about a drop different. Not a big deal in post as you can just add the stop back. This is the only down side I have seen so far. Other than that it refreshes quickly & the modeling light is fairly bright.

Se siente un producto rígido y de buen diseño, viene dentro de un portafolio con correa y dentro viene todo lo que muestro en las fotos perfectamente ordenado, probé el flash solo con el testeo ya que si bien lo describe en la publicación no viene con el transmisor inhalambrico y tenía la esperanza que funcionara con los de godox pero no fue así, ahora espero el transmisor para poder usarlo a distancia, la luz de modelado excelente igual que el funcionamiento del flash, si le pongo un pero seria por el peso ya que se siente algo pesado en lo demás esta muy bien, diseño, apariencia, funcionalidad, espero que con el transmisor funcione perfecto, por el momento estoy satisfecho con la compra.

Professional performance, without breaking the bank, truly. I bought this before shooting a wedding, best decision I ever made. I had this propped up on a stand bouncing off the ceiling of the venue all night. Had all the power I needed to get good lighting throughout most of the large reception area. Battery life was incredible, lasted all day. 4 star for versatility as it's still heavy, but it's design is superb. Great investment.
