Top quality paint
My garage door badly needed the light blue paint replacing so I bought a 750 ml tin of oxford blue. It goes on easily and has a brilliant shine to it. I did need two coats to cover up several smears but the finish is spectacular. I can't comment on longetivity as it has only just been applied

Simple
Really simple to use, gives an excellent finish. One tis more than enough for your average garage door. 2 or 3 coats required.

ANOTHER GREAT HAMMERITE PRODUCT!
Product as described and easy to use, I spent a couple of hours cleaning and preparing the door prior to painting; you need to follow the instructions on the tin regarding stirring and application otherwise the paint will run, be patient don't be tempted to try and complete the job with one coat and do not over brush. The one tin was sufficient to do 2 coats with a smooth professional looking finish and impress the neighbours!I now have 13 year old boring white garage door transformed into a shiny eye catching Oxford Blue door! Let’s see how many neighbours follow suite!!

Ideal paint for metal and wooden doors
Painted a metal garage door and adjacent wooden car port doors with several tins of this paint. It looks amazing as the entire house frontage now looks one lovely even colour although they are made of different materials and textures. No undercoat was required. Just prepared the surfaces very well as per the paint instructions (check out the website). One tin covers two coats of a standard single garage door. I did a thin coat first, then a second coat about 24 hours later. It’s thick paint, but it rollers and brushes on well with thin coats.

Frustrating!
I found the consistency of this paint to be quite thin, which led to frequent drips and runs unless applied very sparingly. To manage these issues, I ended up using less than the recommended coverage. A helpful tip is to paint small sections and then open the garage door so the surface can lie horizontally while it partially dries for a couple of hours. However, this approach does make the project significantly longer. The instructions indicate that a second coat can be applied after 16 hours, but I would recommend waiting at least 24 in cooler weather. In my case, heavy rain after 12 hours made the surface dappled. Additionally, after sealing the tin overnight, I discovered a film on top of the remaining paint that broke apart and mixed into the paint when I tried to remove it.While the colour itself is vibrant and very shiny, these application and durability issues were frustrating. I’d recommend this paint only if you have plenty of time and patience. Ideally, apply it in warm weather with no rain forecast for two days, and have a plan to shield the garage door if it does rain.
