I love the feel of the grip
Let me first discuss the "feel" of the paddle. The paddle is made to standard dimensions with a weight of 8.6 ounces. It felt well-balanced and played that way. Its weight is a full 1.3 ounces heavier than my usual paddle, but its balance makes the difference feel smaller. I love the feel of the grip. It has raised ribs that allow the paddle to be comfortably gripped. The ribs align with a right-handed players fingers but may be less comfortable for a lefty. The paddle face was smoother than mine but the graphite was solid. Overall, the paddle felt well-constructed and I believe it could take a good amount of hard play. The first thing I noticed about playing with the paddle is that it is LOUD. I can safely say that it was by far the loudest paddle among the 20 players in my group. It is probably not a paddle for players whose clubs are near homes or are otherwise noise restricted. The second thing I noticed was the additional power I got from the paddle. I expected some increased power due to its weight and its being new, but the differential was more than I anticipated. My opponents (who are accustomed to my normal play) even commented on the different speed the ball had when it reached them. While I expected more power, I feared that would be offset in the soft game - dinks and drop shots. But I was able to rapidly adjust to the additional power and place these shots similarly to my regular play. The one area of play where my concern came to be realized was spin. I do like to put topspin on shots and I was concerned the smooth surface would make that more difficult than the rougher surface I normally use. That proved to be true. I was able to add some spin but it took more focus and effort and the results were still less than I like.In summary, I really like the paddle for the skill group for which it is advertised - beginner to intermediate. It is currently a great price - under $40 - for the quality. The ribbed grip will help a beginner and intermediate player to properly position their hand on the paddle. Having said that, I would not recommend it to those who like light paddles as this one is at the heavy end of the market. Nor would I recommend it to advanced players due to the factors mentioned above. All-in-all, the P2 is pretty good paddle. The paddle was also recently approved by the USAPA for tournament play.

Good Paddle priced right.
This is a very good paddle and for the price, very nice value. I shared mine with friends and most like the paddles and despite its weight, which is heavy, it plays lighter and has good control. I am hoping to see a lighter version of this paddle with a smaller grip.Speaking of the grip, its solid and feels good in the hand, but a smaller version would feel comfortable for people with smaller hands. There are no dead spots on this paddle. I do recommend it.

My husband felt the handle was super comfortable and really liked it
This paddle is much heavier than what I use or my husband. I was unable to try it out as the handle is way to large for my small hand. My husband felt the handle was super comfortable and really liked it. The weight is not what I would say is medium but rather on the heavy side. It is also extremely noisy as the ball deflects which will make it a non-choice for those that play where noise restrictions are in place, such as the club we belong to in Arizona.

Pala Akisana color gris

The paddle has a nonslip grip making it very comfortable and secure to hold onto
The paddle has a nonslip grip making it very comfortable and secure to hold onto. The grips on my previous paddles were not as good quality and occasionally slipped out of my hands. It feels balanced when swinging for low, high, or medium hit balls. My game has drastically improved since using this paddle. When using this paddle at the gym today, several club members inquired about the paddle. I let them try it out and they all wanted to know where I got it from. They really liked the paddle and plan on purchasing one. As co-chair of the Huntsville Pickleball Club I feel it is my duty to help club members find suitable equipment that is reasonably priced. This paddle is definitely on the top of the list! I would strongly recommend this paddle for players of all levels.

An excellent paddle and even better deal for the price
I'm a 4.5 player and my usual paddle is a Selkirk Enrique Ruiz model. I was given a Play Pickleball Contrast model to test and write a review. I am favorably impressed. It is a bit heavier than my usual paddle - about 8.4 vs 7.6. This affects head speed a bit for some power shots. However, It seems to have a large sweet spot. It has worked really well for the control game. My dinks have been more consistent and I am better able to bring a hard shot back under control to slow down the point again. I think this paddle is a bargain for the price. I think it is on the noisy side which might be a problem in some communities.

Great mix of power, spin and control
A fellow player offered me the opportunity to try this racquet and I was very impressed. I found the mixture of power, spin and control very enjoyable. I've been playing with a lighter, aluminum core, racquet for several months now and I really noticed how the extra weight in this racquet put some pop and spin in my serves and groundstrokes--and I didn't feel any loss of touch in the dinking game. I also liked feel of the ribbed grip. It does have a distinctive popping sound with impact, so don't be surprised. For the price I don't think you can go wrong with this racquet.

Must buy
Amazing Paddle. I recommend Akisana paddles to all of the Pickleball players in the area. The P2 is the right weight for me. The design and the color of the P2 paddle is what I was looking for. Thanks Akisana!
