Howdy GGA very good question and I don't have an answer. I will not buy it anymore as it is very expensive. I am in the process of trying to find out who actually manufacturers their products. All three of my feline partners in life like the dry grain free hearty chicken but it is not cheap. Sure wish I could help you. If you find out, would you please let me know. That said, just as any natural food item, such as nuts or shellfish, it's possible that individuals may develop allergic reactions. And we (I'm Japanese) grew up eating MSG (and my pets got leftover), and Japanese women have the longest life span in the world (and my cat lived 23 years eating my leftover).
