I could not put this book down and got so drawn into the experience that i felt slightly cut off from reality. incredible insight to an American family who were haunted and terrorised by unspeakable forces. I have always believed in the paranormal but never have I read anything so terrifying and devastating. The detail of the encounters are bought to life in this book and I would love to see a movie version!! Even if you dont believe in these "ghost stories" you will still enjoy this book and probably think twice! There are definitely forces out there, living among us....some of them might even live in your home.

This story was truly horrifying which is just how i like them. Once i started i just couldnt put it down and what i read stuck in my head long after too. I will read it again and again,it was just so interesting,scary and so in-depth with detail. I was immediately immersed in the story. Quite hard to believe it was an actual true haunting! Definitely recommend for die-hard horror fans.

As a massive fan of the Warrens this was very good book i just couldnt put down

hmmmm Well the book arrived this morning and since I was having a lazy day off at home I started reading it straight away, several hours later I've finished it. I couldn't put it down, I was gripped and had to find out what would happen next. That feeling lasted until near the end when I could tell it was winding down. Unfortunately there is no follow up, despite the book being originally published in 1988. It would have been really nice to have a short piece at the end saying where the family are now and whether they are still affected. I'm not sure I believe their story, but it is a good story nonetheless. Had I paid £5 or £6 for this book I would have been happy, but nearly £10 is too much. I googled the family to try to find what has happened to them since the 80's and couldn't find any information, but did find information discrediting their story. I'm not sure I believe it, and it's made me doubt the Warrens which is sad. So, if you like a good story, with short chapters, and lots of characters, then buy it. It's a long time since I've read a book in one day. But I'm not sure you'd find anything likely to convince yourself of hauntings, and it's not scary either

Great account of a truly disturbing case of paranormal manifestation. Quite hard to put this book down once you pick it up. Those who believe and maybe have had an experience will sympathise with the trauma this family went through.

very convincing even if you are a sceptic. Equally at least as good as the film. Considering the family's experience as reported in papers and that they had to move to escape, there must be something in 'the other side'.

Riveting scary real life haunting story; I couldn't put the book down.I'm probably hooked on reading the whole series now.

A very good read and keeps you wanting more.

Love this Ed and Lorraine Warren experience. Book is well written, easy to read and tells a great story about the Smurle family haunting.

Ik kende het verhaal reeds door de film THE HAUNTED . Ik vond deze boeiend en realistisch gemaakt . Ook het boek is zeer goed , daarom heb ik het ook aangekocht . Voor mijn 8/10 .

Good book for night reading.

Before you read this book: it is v e r y important to cover the book with the Holy Sign of the Cross and say "In the Name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, Amen. The contents is absolutely true and a greatcontribution to education in demons and how they operate. I am so thankful that Ed and Lorraine wrote this book.
