Pello 14" Children's Bike - Romper (Orange, 14")

Great little bike but for the price its missing little feature like a quick release for adjusting the seat, etc. My son cruises on it and loves it

I bought this bike for my son to transition from a balance bike. Even though it's expensive I bought it because I wanted a quality bike with better geometry. Overall I think this is a well thought out bike but it has a few issues I found concerning. I like the geometry and the setup of the bike, that you can buy a rear wheel with a freewheel, hand rear brake, can go on or off road and I like the orange color.A few things I didn't like include having to buy a quick release clamp for the seat post, decent amount of assembly required and everything that can be adjusted required adjusting to work properly. My biggest complaint is the quality control. I initially adjusted the rear wheel to get the chain at the right tightness but as you turn the crank the chain goes from over 1 inch of play to so tight that it won't crank. I contacted the company and was told that it's common for the chain wheels to not be true circles. They said I should adjust it so that the chain is loose enough to work. This requires the chain to be very loose and sloppy. My main issue is that this is considered normal by their company. I also have an issue with the frame. The rear chain stays are very wide and when the axle nuts are tightened it causes them to pitch at a weird angle. It's very hard to describe but it doesn't instill confidence in the quality.Overall I don't think this is a terrible bike but it lacks some things for the price. I doubt I would buy another from this company though.
