2012 Volkswagen beetle, purchased this key fob as a replacement, and other reviews have commented that modification is required, I can confirm that this is the case.The original key blade is thicker, and it needs to be filed down in order to be inserted into the new Key fob.Also, the area where the key is housed when it’s fully collapsed, is more narrow so you have to shave the key on the sides in order for it to fit into that cavity.If you’re planning on transferring your original key over, be ready to do some modification.If you’re planning on getting the key on the new fob cut at a local locksmith and are willing to pay for that, then this is an option.
