Excellent series. He takes two diverse ideas from the Bible and relates them in a way most have not thought about. Powerful presentations. Filmed on location at the sights in the holy lands.

That the World May Know Series (now fourteen volumes in number and, prayerfully, counting) is a profoundly moving and highly instructive series on 'on site' lessons within the Holy Land, upon the sites where Jesus Christ, and those others whose lives and ministries are illuminated within the pages of the Bible, lived, worked, walked, laughed, cried and taught, providing the insight to the culture, the times, the geography, life situations, and circumstances in which they were so fashioned, that the message conveyed to all who would accept it, would remain alive within their very lives and surroundings; as such, recapturing these settings, Ray Vander Laan provides to us the intent and symbology which those who spoke with God's Voice, had passionately intended. Some scriptures will gain a new depth, others will gain new aspects/facets which we were unaware comprised the 'whole picture', while others will gain such an impressive new emphasis, which up till now, had not been available to us because we have not lived during those times, and in those places, yet in this 'new hearing' imparting a new message to lift our heart, delight our mind, sustain the body, both humble and encourage the soul, and further illuminate our path walking in the steps of our Lord Jesus Christ.For many, like myself, too ill or otherwise unable to make the journey to join those fortunate ones experiencing this lectures series in person, this serves as 'the next best thing', and a profound blessing and a deeply moving (to the point of tears in many cases) testiment and testimony to our hearts, minds, and souls, of the Tremendous Truth and Living Love of our wonderful Lord God.I have watched these lessons countless times; they never get old (how could God's Message get old?), and my wife and I have given or loaned out many copies through the years to others who were similarly blessed.My review for each volume of this series will remain unchanged for each and every one, for any indepth review will be inadequate to convey that which is contained within; like someone who sees a work of art who does not have the words to adequately describe, or to do justice to, this masterpiece, all I can do is urge you to come and partake of this blessing and let the scriptures come alive within you once again!

Fantastic as usual. What consistently distinguishes Ray Vander Laan's ministry and teachings is the insight and wisdom that he brings to his lessons in such a practical way, and his ability to translate the practicality and application of Biblical truths to today's believers (or those seeking to know the truth). This set continues and builds upon its immediate predecessor "Israel's Mission", so I'd recommend that you purchase and go through that series first in order to benefit from the over-arching theme and narrative Ray's developing over multiple sets. That said, this series can stand quite well on its own, so you won't be disappointed either way. Apparently, he will continue to develop (perhaps bring to conclusion?) the theme in an upcoming series slated to be released next summer (i.e., summer 2017).I'm an adult Life Bible Studies Teacher and I try to incorporate at least one of Ray's studies somewhere into my teaching each year. This year, I was able to facilitate both "Israel's Mission" and "The Mission of Jesus", and I believe it was quite effective. If you are a teacher, I would also encourage you to note the "footnotes"/"references" in the study guide and follow it up with some outside reading from some of the sources Ray builds upon in his teaching (e.g., Kenneth Bailey's "The Cross and the Prodigal"). These will not only help you build upon/further flesh out the points Ray emphasizes, but will also serve to guide you into further applications for your teaching.In summary, these are powerful series with lasting impact, and I heartily encourage anyone to check them out. You will find it time well spent!

Great video series! Used it with our church's Sunday morning adult class. During the 30 min videos, Ray's teaching about the culture, history, and geography on location in Israel opens up the Bible stories in a way that makes you realize you only knew the surface content of the stories. There is so much depth to the stories that I never realized was there. Most importantly Ray shows how a story written for an audience thousands of years ago still applies today. This series will challenge you to not stay where you are but join the mission Jesus left for his followers......go and make disciples. The Discovery Guide also contains additional background info related to the stories, as well as questions to use in small group study format.

Mr. Vander Laan's teachings are always clear, precise, easily understood, and yet it probes deep into that area that causes your spirit to respond with an enlightened "Amen." They tie all of the scriptures together in a way you did not even know you knew until he brings it altogether. Understanding the cultural context in which the scriptures were written just opens a whole new view and a clearer way as to how to conduct my life in keeping in line with the revelation of God's Word.

Absolutely love the series. Have ALL of these. Highly recommend you get all of the DVD'S plus the book guides to go along with them. We use them in our women's circle group meetings at our church. All the ladies love the series. Can watch over and over again. Very informative.

Ray Vander Laan brings the Bible to life. He travels and shows where and how people of the day live and how they related to Jesus. Ray Vander Laan brings Jesus to life in the 21st century. We plan to use this series in our Sunday school class.

Ray Vander Laan is always putting out great material. This entire series is a must for Christians serious about understanding the Bible in context of the time it was written for our understanding today.
