In the Bible, in 2 Samuel 12:7, the prophet Nathan famously says to King David, "You are the man." In contemporary culture, being "the man" is a pretty dope compliment, and this shirt at first glance seems right up that self-serving alley. But in reference to the Scriptures, when you know the full story, you see it is actually a humble, self-deprecating admission of sin, guilt, and the need for a Savior. This is a shirt that invites questions - "Why is there a Bible verse? What does Two Samuel 12:7 mean?" - and sets up the intro for humankind's need for repentance, and an evangelistic telling of creation, fall, sin, rebellion, failure, Jesus Christ, the Cross, and his great gift of salvation. It also reminds the wearer of the story of a great believer's temptation and fall, conviction and confession of sin, and the backstory of the great Psalm of repentance, Ps 51.
