The Hoodoo Tarot Workbook: Rootwork, Rituals, and Divination

I wish I could give it 10 stars!
I have had the Hoodoo Tarot deck for over a year now and was so happy to see the workbook. It has been so helpful to have a companion book to go with the companion book since it goes much deeper than just the meaning of the cards. I truly believe that this has everything all in one place and whether you are new to Hoodoo as a practice or an expert, there is something for everyone. Unfortunately, I did not have someone to teach me the ways of Hoodoo when I became interested way back in 2014. I had to learn for myself from books and just digging in an doing the work and wish I had this as a resource back then. The Hoodoo Tarot deck is one of my favorites and the workbook does not disappoint. There is nothing like giving a reading where the characters in the deck are representative of my cultural and ethnic background. I highly recommend both the deck AND the workbook. Beautiful in every way imaginable.

Very helpful, excellent read as well.
I love this workbook for a few reasons. I love that Ms. McQuillar includes why she chose the scriptures she did. I love the additional information on Cartomancy and Augury, the details on the Elder cards. Deeper history on HooDoo. I haven't even gotten to the conclusion on Polydimensionality and Rootwork in the Twenty-First Century but can't wait to read it.So far the whole text is engaging enough to read like a book and also to go back and use as a workbook. Each piece I read makes me want to research and digest the material even more. The additional spreads are useful as well and there are rituals that help you connect more deeply with these incredible lives of these historical Elders. I would recommend this to anyone wanting a deeper journey with this deck. To date, of all the decks and guides I own, I've felt more connected to this than any of the others. This is material you really just want to sit with and absorb as opposed to rushing through. Great work Ms. McQuillar! Thank you for this work!

A clear and insightful companion
This little book is a wonderful update to Tayannah Lee McQuiller’s previous books. It builds and expands upon The companion book for The Hoodoo Tarot with deep dive exercises into the cards of the Hoodoo Tarot and the new spreads. As well as more info on the Bible verses and plants as well as other divination practices. And the full color presentation is beautiful.

On the Fence
There’s so much to appreciate about this book but as someone from continental Africa the tone of the author has caused me to stick to the back of the book rather than delve into it.

I can't wait to combine this with the cards!
I already own 2 of the tarot set, (I thought I lost some cards, got another set, then found the lost cards a few days after getting the new set! 🤣) & just got the Kindle version of the workbook. I can't wait to combine the two. My mother recently told me that her grandmother used to read palms which really surprised me. My mother talks about her grandmother all the time, since I was a child, (I'll be 53 in a few months) but she never once mentioned it to me until a few months ago when I told her I was studying Rootwork. She suggested that I make an alter & very randomly told me about her grandmother. Our family roots does go back to South Carolina, both of my parents. I'm guessing she is who I get my insight from bcuz I've never physically been on the soil & she's the only known person I know of now that was connected. It's really been an very exciting journey for me thus far. Ty for the new knowledge & will be getting the actual book very soon.
