Fluke1587/MDT FC Advanced Motor and Drive Troubleshooting Kit

I had just purchased this kit to replace my Fluke 1587 that was stolen from my car earlier this month. This meter is the exact same as the one I owned with several accessories that I wished I had owned for the last 2 years.The rotation meter works perfectly and comes with 6 lead attachments, 3 CAT IV alligator clips and 3 CAT III probes. I have not seen a practical use for the probes seeing as there are 3 of them and no way to hold the rotation meter and the probes at the same time. The alligator clips are larger and wider then the ones that come with the Megger, they work very well and bite with signifigent force. You do not have to worry about them slipping off while in a panel. The unit gets it's power from the motor being tested.The amp clamp is again one I have used before it works well though I have not used it much. My only complaint with clamp on amp probes is the inability to test DC current, my company does do solar work and it would have been nice to test DC amp though it is something I have lived without for years and can continue to do so.So I am cheating a bit and coping and pasting my review from the 1587 that I posted over 2 year ago. I love this tester! Haven't really had a chance to run any insulation tests as of yet... But have been playing around with it on a job. Currently demoing out old wiring and decided to test out the megger. So I tested a like that was looking find that was to be removed and found several locations that were staples too har when originally installed. The remaining features are exactly as I would expect from fluke. I used this tester and my old ddm to messure the voltage in a panel I was having issues with and the measurements were spot on!I would recommend this to any electrician or building maintaince guy that needed to run insulation testing and needed a good ddmUPDATEThis last week 1/18/13 had a fire job at a hotel had to megger out every branch circuit from the 3rd to the 1st fl and feeder from the 7th to the 1st fl and this tester preformed above and beyond expectations. It operated non stop for 13+ hours of testing with no changing of battiers. A coworker of mine was testing at another job site with an older hand crank model and had only 30 or so circuits to test and it took 2 full working days... I was able to test out more circuits with more accurate readings in less time with no issues. This is by far my favorite DDM tester!

Does what it says and is reliable

I do field CNC field service and it's really nice to have a meter having all the capabilities this MDT has. The only thing missing that I would love for it to have is DC current clamping capability.

The 1587 MDT kit is great. Having all required tooling and attachments in one kit is a time saver and a value added asset for the technician.

this multi adaptive meter is the right fit for me, and yes I would buy it again!!!!
