Such a cute birdfeeder!!

This birdhouse is a favorite in my yard, for the birds and the squirrels. I think the weight of two squirrels at once unfortunately snapped the cord. I was able to rig it back together, but now the cord is a bit shorter. Otherwise pleased with the product.

I bought these because the wire on the previous kind I had did not extend all the way to the top, making the suet cakes easy picking for squirrels. They would simply lift the entire suet cake out of the feeder and make off with it. So I got these thinking I would defeat them. Ha. The squirrels simply knocked the feeders off the hooks onto the ground, where they then remove the lid and take off with the suet cake again. So I thought, I'll zip tie the lid in place and that will stop them. Again, I was a fool. The squirrels chewed right through the zip ties like it was nothing. It barely slowed them down. I've added more zip ties but they just keep chewing through them, and they've also chewed the wood all to hell so not only does it not keep the suet cake safe from this devious marauders, but it now looks awful as well, unless you like the aesthetic of gnawed-on wood. Looks like I'm back to the drawing board once more. Maybe if I get something made of metal it'll stop the furry bandits. Alas, this product is useless against squirrels.
