adidas Men's Terrex Ax4 Gore-tex Hiking Sneaker

Great durable waterproof work shoe.
I needed a waterproof shoe for work. I work in the rain and walk a lot for my job. I used to wear boots but I've been trying out various brands of goretex sneakers over the last few years. I've tried a few different Nikes and they always lost their waterproofing within a couple months. I had luck with Salomon trail shoes but they're way too expensive for a pair of sneakers that will inevitably wear out within a year.I was originally just going to stick with Salomon, but then I noticed these on sale for under fifty dollars. I've never been a huge fan of adidas but for the price I figured it was worth a shot.Initially these shoes are extremely stiff. It takes a week or two of dedication to break them in, like a pair of boots almost. Once they break in though they're as comfortable as any sneakers and are extremely grippy. Almost too grippy. They definitely take some getting used to. However, the goretex lining in these is the highest quality I've ever seen in a sneaker. I wore the soles through before the shoes lost their waterproofing. It really blows me away that a pair of adidas can actually be that durable. I've gotten a full year of use out of these which is a lot for the amount I walk.

Great shoe
I live these shoes. I'm surprised that they keep producing this model and I hope they don't stop because they are a staple of my wardrobe. I keep one pair in my "Save For Later" and order whichever color is on sale. They are great for the normal price, but they will occasionally dip around $50 and then it feels like I'm robbing someone. Very comfortable, roomy toe box, and nice heel support.

Nice shoe overall, may take some breaking in before they're entirely comfortable.
Look good and are mostly comfortable, although a little stiff to start out. The pair I got were Gore-Tex, but it seems like that's not always the case.

Impressive traction on wet rocks.
I wore these on a steep hike in the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina on a rainy day. I was unsure how they would perform on slippery terrain but I was pleasantly surprised how well these performed. Slippage was very minimal, almost none, like my foot was gripping the trail with every step. The fit is excellent and the shoe is rugged but comfortable. I would definitely recommend these to anyone seeking an excellent hiking shoe for wet terrain.

A super high back and really low ankle wells
These seemed like they were built solid enough. But they had this super high back on them that irritated my son's Achilles tendon. So, we sent them back. Construction-wise, they looked like they'd last a long time. And they had really good tread - otherwise making them perfect hybrid hikers/joggers. The price is right. I'm still just trying to figure out why the back of the shoe is so tall.

A Solid Shoe
Most of the negative reviews are about the width and tight fit of this shoe. As a wide-foot myself I understand some of that frustration. I have found that (Adida's specifically) HAVE to be broken in. This can take several wears depending on usage. All my Terrex shoes from my high-tops to my low-tops had to be broken in first before I could comfortably wear them for a full day of hiking. Even after a whole day of hiking and some foot swelling, this hiking sneaker is still comfortable to wear. That's just been my experience with Adida's Terrex shoes. I would not recommend hitting the trails/going to work with these shoes right out of the box. Some people (understandably) just don't have the time or patience to break in products like this.

Great for the money
I just hiked 15 miles in the Uinta mountains and these held up great. They’re a little better looking than most Morrels but not an expensive as others. I had no break in period and fit well I went with the wide shoe and fit me perfect!

It's not the Gore-Tex model - incorrect product description on Amazon page
This is not the Gore-Tex model. This is the version without Gore-Tex. So it is not waterproof. The Amazon product page description is wrong. I returned the sneakers because of this. And also because my feet were a bit too wide for these shoes.
