Q: Hi, will this work on a 6mm pull rod/ is it likely to not grip as well?

I haven't tried it on a 6mm rod, but the top part would clamp on fine, and the hook would, I'm sure, still hold the Hi Hat securely. The Hi Hat might be a bit loose on the rod though which might affect sound and play-ability.

Q: How does this clutch work with a double pedal?

Same as a normal hi hat clutch. The drop clutch allows you to play double bass patterns with the hats closed, but once you engage the clutch it functions normally. hope this helps
