Probably the best jaws-type scooper available
With 5 dogs living in our home, we've gone through a quite a few pooper scoopers over the years. For "big clean-ups" (after not having picked up poop for a few days), I find it best to use a rake and tray type, where the tray (on the end of a long handle) can hold a significant quantity at one time, and the rake allows you to pull the poop into the tray. But, for simple clean-up jobs, when going around the lawn to find those buried treasures that I missed, the jaws-type scooper is the best tool. For those who have just one or two dogs, the jaws-type scooper is probably the best all-around choice. The jaws-type scoopers all work the same way, but there are differences among the brands. I have found that the ones that are available at our local pet supply stores or big box stores work fine for awhile -- but will certainly break rather quickly. The plastic is inferior and brittle, and the cold winter temps, combined with repeated use, will cause the plastic to crack at the stress points. (Possibly, it is due to the sun deteriorating the plastic.) The plastic for these inferior brands tends to break where the springs connect, and also where your fingers pull on the handle to open the jaws. Also, if you accidentally drop them, say, off of a deck -- they easily break. The Poop Patrol jaw scoop is very well made. Probably the best I've used. The plastic is of a type that is not typical of any of the other pooper scoopers out there (that I am familiar with). It is a type of plastic that is more slick, shiny, and flexible than others. Because of this material, it holds up extremely well to the weather, and it operates rather smoothly. The structural design of the unit adds to its strength. It is comfortable to use when squeezing the handle. My only reservation is that I think the spring action of the jaws would be improved if the springs were a bit stronger. I would like the jaws to spring together a little more forcefully. (The springs can likely be changed out by looking for springs at your local hardware store, but I have never bothered.) Nevertheless, the spring action is adequate and is not a deal-breaker. The jaws are serrated and work well on grass.

Hands down best pooper scooper on the market!!
We breed Australian Labradoodles, so essentially we are professional pooper scoopers! No joke! Needless to say, we've bought and tried almost every pooper scooper made. We buy tons and tons of dog items. We are essentially self proclaimed experts. With all this said, when we first opened the package on this scooper we were ready to get it bronzed and turn it into art. Why you ask? It's literally a piece of art. For starters, the teeth on the bottom all fit together tightly and pick up poop while scraping the surface it's being picked up from. Next, the surface of the poop patrol jaw is very shiny and slick not the typical opaque looking plastic. The benefit is the shiny surface doesn't allow things to stick to it easily and it makes for very easy removal simply by wiping things off of it. Next, the handles are very comfortable to handle being a good size that fits most hands and the springs work very smoothly, helping the handle move constantly each and every time you use it. Finally, most pooper scoopers feel very cheap and are very cheap...not this one. This item feels very durable and lasts with consistent use. So far, this is the BEST pooper scooper I've ever bought and the guys gave away all the other pooper scoopers when I got this one.We breed Australian Labradoodles and with all our puppies we include this Poop Patrol Jaw Scoop in all our full service kits and our families love it. When I hand it to our family they all can't help but squeeze the handle and smile. Just holding it you can see it's top quality. Plus, it's so important an item like this is top quality...who wants to be repairing and fixing a broken pooper scoop? Trust me, you don't! and you won't if you own this one.TIP: You can spray cooking spray on the scoop itself if you want to clean this item after use so you can store it in your garage or somewhere you will have see it or smell it. The guys have a bucket with water and vinegar that they swish it around in to keep it clean between use. They also hose it off and it cleans up super easy.

Great Product. But let's get real. A little humor helps.
I use a walker away from home and a cane or walking stick around the house to help with balance. This lightweight, effective tool has made it possible to keep my large back yard a "safe" zone again. You have no imagination if you think that two Yorkies can't make a yard un-walkable.I take my tall (6 ft.) wooden walking stick and a plastic grocery bag (the common type with two handles), place my right hand through one bag handle to keep it open and then grab my stick with the same hand, take the handy pet scoop in the other, and head out on patrol once every day or two. The spring loaded handle makes the scoop easy to open and close even for 65-year-old arthritic hands. I open the teeth-edged tool, easily gather my prey, let go the spring handle to capture, and transfer it to the bag, opening the teeth and container by squeezing the spring handle and then gently knock it against my stick, and bring it back out for my next great discovery.I can now enjoy my backyard again without stepping in land minds and scrubbing shoe soles with old toothbrushes and foaming cleansers--not a pleasant task.I'd give it five stars I'd it were about three to four inches taller. I'm 5'6" with a bad back and have to lean down to get the job done. After about 10-15 minutes, my back starts to ache. I have a huge yard and those Yorkies are travelers.Easy to clean, simply by using it to pull up a few weeds three or four times. Clean tines, ready again.I'd buy it again, but hope the company will provide this well-made tool with a longer handle choice.

Love my scooper
I bought one of these scoopers at a pet store more than a decade ago, and after lots of use, it died. Found another on amazon and was very happy to find it. A little pricy but, well worth the money. Easy to use and makes clean up fast and easy.Love it!

Poop Patrol
I hate this Poop Patrol. My dogs almost never have real dry poop, even then, I find it useless!!. Using this for less than whole dry poops, this is useless to me. It's hanging in my Laundry Room.
