It's neutral; must need a dac+amp
It's neutral, mids and treble side not over recessed nor sibilance, yet details was okay. Micro details isn't too catchy like $1k+ items, but it feels enough for the money you pay. I will say it feels like $5-600 mainstream IEM range. Orchestral tracks don't feel enough separations, but fine enough you wont be mad, again feels satisfactory... Must pair with a portable wired or wireless dac+amp otherwise feels lifeless straight from phone.Naturalness/ intimation - I will rate 5/10...Conclusion - if looking to for cheap budget satisfaction. If you are picky for TOTL level details, then you may pass...

Not worth the price - Damaged audio after 7 months
These earphones are expensive. But I really liked how they looked and the bass/ frequencies it had to offer. So I went ahead with it. I was very happy with them. However after 7 months of use, these have gone softer on the left side. I checked if my phone/ devices had shifted the audio to the right but that wasn’t the case. No matter what device I use, the audio is distinctly softer and muddier on the left side.I have not had these close to any water, they have never fallen either.Just not the longevity I would have liked given the price.

Excellent IEMS
These are my third pair of IEMs and second pair of good IEMs.The short: really good bass, mids are great but could be made perfect with a little eq, treble is great, not fatiguing. Fit could be a challenge for smaller ears, took some getting used to and modifying. To start, I am upgrading from a pair of truthear hexas which are already really good, and even better when the value is considered so the next upgrade would be difficult to chose. After much research, I stumbled upon the Kiwi Ears Quintets, the driver setup is very unique and the tuning is very similar to the hexas making it a safe upgrade. One of the first things I noticed about them was the quality and amount of bass, when compared to the hexas, the punch is so much better and the bass goes deep without sounding "flabby". The mids are clear and aren't shouty, although it can be made a touch better with a little eq to boost the lower and upper mids 1-2db. The treble is great that isn't fatiguing at all, no siblance anywhere. Overall a very balanced and versatile iem that makes edm, pop, rock and others all sound great. The only criticism would be the nozzle. The lip on the nozzle used to retain the ear tips is a bit large for smaller ears and caused quite a bit of discomfort. I ended up sanding the lip off and replaced the tips with SpinFit W1s. After about a week, my ears adapted to the fit and the discomfort is no longer there. However, the fit is still not "forget you're wearing iems" comfortable, the hexas hold that spot for me.4.5 stars over allJuly 2024 update: After trying out Dunu S&S tips in the small size, all my comfort issues were alleviated, they are now my favourite IEMs by far and are also extremely comfortable, they are now very close to the "forget they're in your ear" comfortable like the Truthear Hexas. Upping my rating to full 5 stars!

Really not sure why people are sleeping on these
There seems to be a sort of mixed or polarized reception to the Kiwi Ears Melody that I don't entirely understand. If you are on the fence about these because of certain reviews out there, here's what I think you probably should know (to help you decide if they're worth a try or not):tl;dr version:Pros:They stand alone as a sub 100 dollar planar for now. They have a warmer, more relaxed signature than the typical planar (almost dynamic sounding), but do so without sacrificing much technicality in the upper frequencies; plenty of detail, no sibilance to my ear.Cons:Fitment would be better with a more aggressive nozzle angleFemale vocals could be lacking for someThe tuning is....comfy, but not lacking detail. They aren't dark really, but they are dark leaning. This in and of itself is something I would typically avoid in a planar because I would expect it to come at the cost of clarity. This is not the case with these transducers (as I understand it these 12mm planars were developed in house). Instead what they have somehow done is managed to make these planars sound almost.... dynamic! You get the slam and extension into sub bass that you would expect from a DD, but you get punch in the midbass and good technicality on the treble section as well. However, female vocals can be a bit husky as a result, which some listeners may find a con.One review that I saw claimed that the treble is sibilant and fatiguing, but in the same breath applauded the Shouer s12 pro's treble.... which feels shill since comparing the two here at my desk I can make it through my test list with no fatigue on the Melody, and cannot do the same with the s12 pro.The treble on these if anything is maybe... a bit too tame? You won't get the same kind of *sparkle* you get with the s12 pro, but it's clearly not the target KE was aiming for.You could put these in and forget they're there, fall asleep wearing them (both from a perspective of comfort and sonic characteristics). And that brings us to comfort...it's.... okay. They're very light, the outer shell is some kind of alloy with a matte black finish, the shell is a resin print. Weight will not be even slightly an issue. They do however use that same nozzle design that all KE sets seem to use which does not angle upward aggressively enough, in my opinion. Even with the stock eartips, no hotspots or *real* seal issues, but spinfits definitely gave me a *better* seal instantly, which tell me that if the nozzle was angled more naturally, any tip would do.My typical test list looks like this:Nite Flite by Lee Morgan (Rudy Van Gelder remaster), Better Living Through Chemistry by Queens of the Stone Age, T69 Collapse by Aphex Twin, Time by Pink Floyd, Something Going On by Bobby Digital.. many others but basically nothing in my library sounds worse for wear on these .
