Perfect Pin - Highly Recommend
I have to share a secret... I grew up using the 'classic' rolling pins with handles. Even as an energetic child, I remember the handled pins being unwieldily & difficult to use. Then the Great British Bake-off introduced me to different types of pins. What finesse! What ease! These thoughts rang through my head as I observed the bakers roll out dough quickly with their tapered pins. After a lot of online research I settled on ordering Ateco's dowel maple rolling pin and THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT. This is my new favorite kitchen tool that far surpasses it's pitiful handled sister for the following reasons:- Creates even layer of dough (my sugar cookies baked evenly & all my holiday visitors couldn't resist instagramming them)- Intuitive rolling- You don't tire out using this pin- Perfect weight (think maple is the way to go)- Simple design - no need to worry about the handles falling off or becoming loose- I think the 19" length is perfect - great for rolling out larger doughs when needed

Smooth and sturdy multi-use pin
This is just what I wanted - a nice plain rolling pin. The outer surface is smooth and the pin is substantial and feels good in my hands. The length is perfect and generous enough for rolling out a large rectangle of dough. It's working great for rolling out my pastries! This is a really nice all-purpose rolling pin and I don't feel like I need to buy a bunch of other pins for different tasks. In fact, I got rid of my other two rolling pins and this one will supply all my needs moving forward.

Good Quality, Good Weight Rolling Pin
I needed a long, round rolling pin to use with pasta dough. Ordered this one as it came from a family owned business, was affordably priced, and was solid maple. The rolling pin is truly round, with no flaws in shape or in the wood. The finish is smooth and retains a sprinkling of four well. I washed it, let it dry overnight, then lightly oiled it with canola oil (never use mineral oil), wiped it down and let it air for another 24 hours. After a dusting of flour, it was ready to be used on the dough. The weight is good, not to heavy, not too light and the diameter works well with rolling and stretching pasta. Very happy with this purchase. Highly recommended.

Sturdy, Simple and Effective
Saw these being used on a cooking show and got one--I use it exclusively now. It's longer and easier to manage than pins with handles, and you can roll out a wider area with less handling of the dough. Nice, sturdy product. You could probably make one yourself but I live an hour from the closest Home Depot so this was the way to go for me. Very happy!

It's Long. Be mindful of this
So this roller is great. Dense wood. Does nice job. It is just three inches longer than i need, and i didn't take it into consideration. i can't discredit the product for this. Just wish I would have gotten a shorter rolling pin.

Very attractive piece of wood
I just received this today so I haven't used it yet but just from looking at it and touching it, this is a fabulous rolling pin. It's BIG, nice, sturdy weight, smooth piece of wood. I am sure it will do a wonderful job with rolling dough for cookie, pizzas, and flour tortillas (which is why I bought it for mostly). I know I should have waited to review it once I actually used it, but I got too excited to let you all know what a nice piece of wood this is. I will use it tomorrow and let you all know how it works.Edit:

So glad I bought this
Very solid, beautifully smooth. Like any wooden pin, it needs to be lightly maintained with a small application of conditioning oil every once and a while - a little more frequently when it is brand new (I use a small amount of coconut oil and it works well) as would be expected. Also makes an impressive threat to swing at unruly people who try to steal the cookie dough when you are not looking.

Works great
I've been using this for a few months, and it works great. There are two things I am not crazy about: the sticker that I had to remove when I bought the rolling pin, and a stain that will not come out of the wood. I am not sure what the stain could be from, since I only use this on dough; be that as it may, I am satisfied with the product overall.

Very nice
Its good (french-style) rolling pin with a nice weight and feel to it. I've had it for years and it is still going strong. No slivers or chips out of it, and it still rolls as well as one needs rolling.I also use wide rubber bands on each end to set a minimum roll depth. Works great. And make sure its not in eye-line when your spouse gets mad at you...

Good Pin.
Sturdy, good material and good weight. A good tool for any baker even if you're just starting out. I use it as a tenderizer for meat too. If you have pork or other meat in zip lock bags and are tenderizing or plan to marinate later, just beat it with this pin a few times. There's nothing like one tool that does lots of jobs.

Very good product! Best one
I've had many rollers before and this one is by far the best. The weight is just right and fit perfectly in your hand. Rolls nicely too. Would recommend, can't go wrong with the price either.

Title is misleading: it's actually 19"
The title says it's "20-inch" but further down in the description, it says 19" ... and that's what it is. But agree with other reviews on the smoothness of the wood and the good quality. I also bought the Regency Evendough Bands and they fit perfectly on this pin!
