Not compatible with Windows 11, heavy, no micro SD, bright screen, sluggish response
This tablet Windows PC definitely feels rugged because it's pretty heavy. It's very tiring to hold with one hand and try to operate it with the other hand. It's definitely a two-handed tablet due to its weight. The first thing I tested was whether or not it's compatible with Windows 11 so that I could get the latest and greatest features and get the longest supportability since Microsoft has announced the end of support for Windows 10 already (coming in the not too distant future). Unfortunately this tablet is not compatible with Windows 11 because according to the Microsoft PC Health Check app, the processor used in this tablet is not compatible. Everything else meets the requirements for Windows 11. Unfortunately the processor (CPU) is not upgradable, so this tablet will be forever stuck on Windows 10 unless Microsoft decides to change its supportability policy for the CPU inside this tablet. But let's assume that you're fine with Windows 10. You'll need to purchase a separate software license to activate Windows 10 on this tablet. Although the OS comes pre-installed, it reminds you that it's not yet activated. This is also NOT a full installation of Windows 10 because there are missing built-in apps.Notably the Camera app is missing, so I wasn't able to fully test the rear-facing and front-facing webcams on the tablet. I was able to use web sites and third-party apps to test the web cam, but the webcams weren't that impressive. The front-facing webcam was 1280x960 resolution, which is a squarish 4:3 aspect ratio--not 16:9 like most modern webcams and TVs.The rear-facing webcam, however, is 1920x1080 full HD. The frame rate was very poor when testing with OBS. I was getting around 10-13 fps and expected at least 30 fps on the webcam. This tablet wouldn't be great for streaming with OBS or even video calls. Using an online webcam test site, it only reached 6 fps frame rate. There is a handy barcode scanner on the long top side of the unit that can be activated using one of the soft rubber covered buttons labeled F1 next to the power and volume buttons. The barcode scanner works automatically in any app as a keyboard entry device. Just tap into a text field or even a text document and scan a barcode to input the decoded barcode text. The maximum workable range and distance for a 1.25-inch long UPC barcode is about 15 inches away from the barcode. The power adapter can either be plugged into the round DC connector behind a protective plastic flap or can be connected through a quick-release magnetic power connector that attaches only in one direction to the opposite long side of the tablet (opposite the barcode scanner, power, volume, and F1 buttons). There is no micro SD card slot as advertised in the vendor's product photos. They may have meant micro USB port, which there is one.In regards to the other ports, there is one USB 3 and one USB 2 port. When plugging in a cable or flash drive to one of these ports, the plastic cover is so stiff that it pushes against the USB connector and stresses it sideways, which probably isn't good for the USB connector, and I worry that it may eventually become loose or detached from the circuit board inside the tablet. The micro HDMI port is a bit inconvenient because on a tablet this big and heavy, I would have expected a full size HDMI port that I can use with standard HDMI cables. The small micro HDMI connector is more fragile, and like the USB ports I mentioned above, the plastic cover will push against a small fragile micro HDMI port and possibly bend the cable connector or damage the port inside the tablet. The fingerprint reader on the back of the unit is square and allows you to easily unlock the tablet without typing in your password. You do need to set a password before you can activate and use the fingerprint reader. The back of the tablet also features a 100x100mm VESA mount for attaching to various standard mounts and monitor arms. There are also strap mounting points in each corner on the back of the tablet that could allow you to mount a hand strap to make it easier to hold since it's so heavy and may be difficult to keep a good grip on.The screen is full HD (1920x1080) and fairly bright with an advertised 1000 nits brightness. It does appear to be about the same brightness as other displays I have that are 1000 nits brightness. This might be a good option to use outdoors, but on extremely sunny days and locations it may still be difficult to view the screen in direct sunlight. An interesting port on the tablet is a COM 9-pin serial port. Most consumers probably won't need such a port, but for interfacing with industrial equipment and machines, the built-in serial port might be valuable.Overall, it's slow tablet with decent battery life. It's not very responsive and fast at launching apps or loading new screens and windows. I found myself tapping too many times sometimes because it took so long to respond that I thought it didn't register my first finger touch. This slow response wastes time because I end up tapping a third time to get a screen to open because it may have closed because I tapped twice instead of just once. Very frustrating.
