BEST!
I am a long-time vintage jewelry dealer and collector and own over 100 reference books but for a Victorian jewelry lover, this is far and away the best of the best. This book is large, but it is absolutely amazing as well! Not only are the pictures detailed and beautiful, there are catalogue pages and hand drawn illustrations inside too. DO NOT MISS THIS!It deals with many types and styles of jewelry, the history, photos and paintings of women wearing it and pages of great detailed information.I am going back to thumbing the pages now, and it will take hours and hours of pleasant reading to see it all... what fun!

dissapointed
This book is overpriced and I was disappointed. More than 3/4 of the pictures are paintings and drawings, not too manyphotos of actual jewelry. This book is more about history, not jewelry. If this is what you are looking for, you will love it. I wanted a book about jewelry, with more eye candy. I am very dissapointed and I will return it.

Sumptuous & fascinating book
Absolutely beautiful book. So much to absorb in this incredible volume. It's a huge book and will give many, many hours of indulgence. I particularly like that it covers the gamut of jewellery, low end to high end aling with social history. The inclusion of contemporary paintings to illustrate jewellery fashions is a nice touch.

Well illustrated catalogue
This was a catalogue issued by the British Museum for one of their specialist exhibitions I missed. It makes a great alternative on a little know subject as it is well illustrated.

Buy it!
I'm not going to repeat what everyone else has said, because they've pretty much covered it. Stunning photos of stunning jewellery with an excellent guide through the Victorian era and the different styles. Love it, well worth splashing out on.

Jewellery in the Age of Queen Victoria
This is a very large and heavy book so be warned if you intend to use it for bedtime reading as your knees wilk ache with the weight. It is a magnificent study packed with information and well illustrated from diverse sources
