Buggy to Great - Took a bit of work
UPDATE: After working with global sales, and coordinating a replacement. I can say the new unit is actually really great. At last, it took a lot of wrangling, but customer support did eventually come through. For reference, here was what I had to put up with:I received my Beyerdynamic Space months ago, and it persistently gives me problems. It's not like a hardware malfunction, where you'd expect it to be glitchy. It's more like buggy firmware sometimes prevents it from starting the mic and speaker audio stream over USB. Other times it works, but I have to try powering it off and on, to get it to sometimes start up. I find if I begin by playing sound out of the speaker first, then I can generally get the mic to wake up and work. It's buggy when using it with either Mac and Windows. Also the bluetooth function can sometimes just completely freeze it. I've had to DFU re-install the firmware and do a Bluetooth Reset to resurrect it. It's working, just barely, but sometimes not.Once it's working, it's decent. The echo cancellation is good enough that I can safely turn off the echo cancellation in Zoom or Google Meet, and experience seamless bidirectional audio. The audio quality is like it's running at 16Khz, high enough it's crispy, but low enough you know it's a speakerphone mic. Where Beyerdynamic Space excels is in wider field pick-up of other team members at further distances. It compresses the audio range so they are heard well by the remote side.

It just works and works well!
I spent an embarrassingly long time reviewing speakerphones. I looked at the Yamaha YVC-200 (a little dated and much older Bluetooth spec), the Jabra Speak 710 and 750 (older Bluetooth specs and expensive), Initially I ordered the EPOS 30 plus. The EPOS wasn't too bad and it came with a dongle for the price. It had an excellent speaker for music and other sound, and it could get really loud without distorting. However, I had several weird connectivity issues on my work computer (enterprise computers). In addition, folks said I sounded ok, nothing great. As far as the EPOS 30 Plus speaker capabilities, that was nice but, in the end, I wasn't looking for a Bluetooth speaker or a computer speaker. Instead, I realized I needed to be laser-beam focused on the purpose I actually needed a speakerphone: For good mics so I could be heard clearly on the other end of a Zoom call. Enter the Beyerdynamic Space. This thing is brand new on the market, equipped with newer Bluetooth specs (I believe 5.1 or something). I didn't love that I would be losing the dongle option, but once I got the Beyerdynamic Space I really did not care about the dongle at all. It just worked flawlessly, connecting seemlessly to my phone and working without any issues when connected to my work computer with the provided wire (which is not weirdly attached to the device as with the EPOS 30 and Jabras -- that's a bit strange to me). In short, I am VERY happy with my purchase as I feel that my colleagues now hear me well (and say so) and I don't have any weird glitches that probably flow from the fact the Beyerdynamic Space is new, with updated specs. It looks and feels high quality and modern and looks great in any workspace (I get really positive comments after only a few weeks of having it). In addition, it includes very intuitive "capacitance" buttons. I highly recommend you pick one up if you are looking for a quality personal speakerphone. BTW, it's really portable and the bag that comes with it is surprisingly durable and closes nicely with a unique closing mechanism you don't normally see but it works well. Please know that I am just a regular customer (that pretty much tortures himself by reading any and all reviews available before making a purchase). Happy speakerphone hunting!

Great as speakerphone; bad for music
After working from home for two years, I was getting tired of using a Jabra headset, which, admittedly, had great sound quality and noise reduction. Looking into speakerphones, a few units seemed good but were either missing USB-C (Yamaha), seemed overpriced or way too treble-y (Jabra) or had dubious sound/microphone quality (other brands). At Amazon's price, the Beyerdynamic space appeared to be reasonably priced compared to the competition and offered excellent battery life and USB-C connectivity. After a few weeks of use (I do not use bluetooth, but connect via USB-C instead), these are my findings:- Sound quality for calls is great; people's voiced can be heard clearly with sufficient mid-range and bass to make them sound natural.- Microphone quality appears to be good. While not as good as a headset with noise cancelling mic, I have had no complaints from people on the other side of the line. I can be heard clearly, even when several feet away from the Space.- Echo/noise: I have not received any complaints about echo or background noise and people indicated they could hear me clearly without too much going on in the background. The algorithm/mics seem to be doing their job well.- Music quality: mediocre. It works better than laptop speakers, but that's about as good as it gets. Sound is mono, the bass is extremely overpowered. In theory you can pair two via bluetooth and create stereo surround, but at the price of two of these you can get high-quality PC studio monitors/speakers -- so I cannot think of any reason why'd you'd buy two of these over proper speakers. Do not buy this solely for the purpose of listening to music.- Buttons: I would have preferred actual buttons with feedback rather than a circle with tiny, mono-colored icons, but generally I haven't had any issues with the device or responsiveness of the touch buttons. Conclusion: works quite well as a speakerphone for hands-free and headset-free calls and is passable for listening to the occasional video/etc. In music mode, the bass is extremely overbearing and since the speaker is mono it simply doesn't sound good. The battery life is pretty extreme at 20 hours so it will be a good buy for those who are on the road a lot, too. Ultimately, I think it is overpriced -- but speakerphones in general seem to be rather expensive and apparently this Beyerdymic Space is pretty reasonably priced compared to the competition.

Definitely worth the premium price
This is perfect for single listening of tunes, hotel, homegood quality audio and bass, ease of use when switchingto receive or make phone calls, which also is very goodquality. Brilliant build and looks very neat. This won't replace a high end bespoke Bluetooth speakerBut I wanted ease of use, speaker phone as opposed to my phone and compact for travel, does all that very well.So to sum up, brilliant device, adequate sound, volumenot for the party or social device, but very convenientDefinitely considering buying second for that stereo effect
