Fantastic Quality at a Price You Can't Fault!
Read the reviews and took into account the general comments about the sizing coming up a little large, so I ordered a Medium being a slim(ish) 42 inch chested male of 5'8'' and the fit is perfect, even down to the length of the sleeves.I can fully concur with the other reviewers about the brilliant quality of the jacket for the money. In fact I have recently seen exactly the same jacket, albeit with a different label and slightly different style of poppers, in a shop for double the price!I use the jacket for general dog walking and beating on a local shoot, so it has already come in for some serious abuse battling through waist-high bramble, thorns and barbed wire fencing and come out with flying colours - no tears or rips at all! The jacket is lined and has some thermal insulation making it warm enough when walking, even on freezing days. I find there is enough room to get a thick jumper underneath too without any restriction on movement. The only thing I would say is that the collar fastening is a little snug, which is not normally a problem unless you try to get a jumper underneath that has a thick, high collar. In which case you won't be able to have the zip and top popper done up. I've not found this to be a problem, as I would normally get too hot walking any distance dressed like that, but I thought that I'd mention it.The zip is metal, nice and chunky and does up first time, every time without snagging. The poppers close with a firm click and don't loosen up like some cheap one's I've come across in the past. The cartridge-style pockets are large enough to be useful, I like the slanted Napoleon-style hand-warmer pockets which are perfectly positioned for me and there is a large poachers-style pocket inside, which is great if you're walking around with a fresh-baked loaf of bread, have no bag and it's raining - don't ask!I've yet to test the jacket in a torrential downpour, but it's coped admirably with moderate, steady rain without leaking. As with all waxed jackets though, it's not going to be as waterproof long-term, as say a Gortex jacket, unless you re-proof it regularly and the outer will take longer to dry fully. However, there's no way I'd take my expensive Gortex walking jacket bramble bashing, it'd be ripped to pieces in a few minutes whereas this thing just shrugs it off!My wife was so impressed, she immediately ordered one of here own in Small, which again fitted her size 14, 5'3'' build fine, although she does finds the arms an inch or so too long. However, if she has ordered the next size down, she doesn't think she'd have been able to get a jumper underneath. All in all, for the price, what's not to like!? The item was dispatched extremely quickly too.

Great value waxed jacket
This is ideal, if like me, you really don't like wearing sweaty 'plastic' coats in the rain! With the wet spring and wet summer now changing to wet autumn and winter here in Devon, I had been looking for a decent rain coat for walking our dogs etc. but everything seemed to be too expensive or too thick/warm or too plastic. Then I remembered having a wax jacket many years ago and jumped onto Amazon to see what was available.I chose this jacket based on price, reviews and the fact it says, British. The coat is great, in my opinion. Heavy enough to be warm, but thanks to it being cotton, it still feels fresh. I found the size (L) to fit nicely (I'm L or XL). The sleeves were long enough for me and have a nice cuff inside.I was a bit worried about the poppers ripping the material but they seem fine. I wonder if the coat is actually made in the UK or is perhaps finished here (ie. waxed) because the price is almost too good to be true.

Amazing quality. Short sleeves may cause problems and definitely go a size down.
I've been considering a Barbour waxed jacket for some time. I spend most of my time outdoors with my Spaniels and although I own many (way too many) high end mountaineering coats in all styles I hate using them for dog walking as I worry about them getting torn or just mucky but most importantly I wanted a jacket with big pockets to hold dog leads and dog toys, poop bags etc.I decided to try out this coat due to the reviews. It's about 10% of the price of a Barbour jacket of similar style and is worth a go if you just want to try out the style of jacket. As all the other reviewers have said already the quality of this coat is pretty mind blowing for the price of only £20. The jacket has a good weight to it. It feels solid with good warm quilting and is well waxed. The zips feel good and I've been hammering it for just over a week now and it hasn't let me down. The only problem for me personally is the sizing. I'm 6ft 2 with a 40inch chest and 32 inch waist. The jacket I ordered was a medium. The first thing I noticed was how bulky it was and how big it was. I'm used to slim fitting North Face gear so it was a bit of a shock. I think a small would have been ok for me to be honest. I take between medium and large (mainly large) in most jackets. The other problem for me is the arm length. Not so much the outer layer of the jacket but where the internal storm cuffs sit. They clamp onto my arm way above my watch on my wrist. If I could have had a slightly longer sleeve and a slightly slimmer jacket (including the massive bulky sleeves) this would have been my go to favourite everyday jacket. If you've got shorter arms I would definitely go at least one size down and you will fall in love with this jacket and be laughing at how much money you just saved. As for the hood that comes with this jacket.....personally I wouldn't bother it's just a bit to thin and flappy but would probably do the job.Since owning this jacket as my main dog walking jacket I have treated myself to a Barbour Ogston jacket. To be fair the jackets are very different in style and cut etc and the Barbour is no where near as good for carrying dirty dog balls and leads etc. What I have noticed is that the waxed cotton used for both coats is extremely similar. This jacket costing £20 and the Barbour costing £269. All in all I still love this coat for the price. I just wish the sizing and cut was a little better for me personally.

Ottima
