It's great to have this tool to stay on top of the composting process. Taking the temperature really helps to understand if it's hot enough to kill seeds and pathogens as well as what might be added to help produce the desired temperature to create fast and wonderful compost. My first reading brought a smile-- 140 degrees. Yippee! Who knew making earth could be so fun?

Great product. After my older thermometer snapped I bought this one expecting a similar product. It’s was t until having this a week that I realized how off my old one was! Great product. He say I’d buy it again but doubt I’ll need to for s very long time, seems very sturdy. It also came with some really helpful information. I’ve been composting for years and usually just throw all the little booklets away but actually read them this time. I was surprised to learn some things. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Nice thermometer. Everything I expected. Tested it against my expensive Thermapen and it was accurate. Instructions on the back were convenient and helpful. The dial is color coded which makes it very convenient to read. Well built and the long stem is perfect.

Does it's job telling pile temp but as other reviews note, the dial gets moisture inside. It's likely going to cause rusting issues at some point.

The thermostat has vapor or water inside the measuring gauge - filtered from rain which is unacceptable

The second day after receiving it, there was vapor built up on the inner glass surface of the thermometer. It has not cleared. Obscures view of the temperature. Very disappointed.

Works well, however the probe shaft is too thin and bent when used in a grass clippings/leaves compost pile. Also, the head twisted out of calibration after 2 weeks of use.
